Mega scale seaweed carbon capture

About us

Welcome to Samudra's LinkedIn page! Our name, inspired by the Sanskrit word for 'Ocean', reflects our deep connection to the marine world and our commitment to safeguarding it. At Samudra, we are pioneers in the Blue Carbon revolution, dedicated to making a significant impact on climate change by leveraging the untapped potential of the oceans. Our mission is clear: to remove 1 Giga Tonne of carbon from the atmosphere by 2033. How? By harnessing the power of advanced robotics and AI technology, and focusing on one of the ocean's most promising resources - seaweed. Research shows that seaweed can capture up to 20 times more atmospheric carbon than terrestrial plants, making it a key player in our fight against climate change. At Samudra, we believe in the power of innovation and the importance of the oceans in steering the world towards a sustainable future. Join us on our journey as we work to protect our planet, one wave at a time. Follow us for updates on our progress, insights into our technology, and stories of impact from the forefront of the Blue Carbon revolution. #BlueCarbon #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Innovation #OceanConservation

  • Incredible work, Joyeeta Das! Your insights on the gaps in #BlueFinance and the need for stronger asset-backed ocean investments are so crucial. The intersection of #BlueEconomy, #Space, and #Agritech holds immense potential, and your voice at the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is driving much-needed attention to these issues. It’s inspiring to see you challenge the status quo and push for real systemic change—because without the right financial instruments, scaling sustainable ocean solutions remains an uphill battle. The crisis is real, but so are the innovators like you who refuse to back down. 💙🌍 Keep leading the charge! 🚀💡 #OceanFinance #ClimateTech #ImpactInvesting #SustainableFuture

I am at the United Nations #Geneva I have been given the floor for #BlueFinance Section where I am inputting into the report for #financing into the #Blue sector ( or lack there of ) and adding concrete recommendations for change at various levels in members states and #private sector. A ' just energy transition is a balanced transition ' -I spoke about lack of right asset classes to invest in #blue #economy , the poor performance of the few ineffective ones . How many blue bonds have we seen? What is the % of #coinvestment private sector has done along with pilot-public #grants and others as a fraction of what they invest in non-carbon tracked investments and should this not be incentivised ( or penalised?) How can we create notional and legal maturity models for cover ratios in asset backed ocean financing that will have a wide range of variability given the nature of the work? Can we marry #space with #agritech and learn? This is my second time at Palais De Nations and the continued engagement gives me much hope at depressing times for the #climatetech sector. The crisis is real but the solutions are not backing down.. we are fighting for the planet and our children and our own future. Thanks UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Zarja Vojta and Carmen for the continue support in providing me the platform Hamish Stewart Deepak Shakya

  • 🌊 Honoured to Speak at Google’s SFSD Fireside Chat on Social Entrepreneurship! 🌍 A huge thank you to Google Startups for Sustainable Development (Google SFSD) for hosting an inspiring fireside chat with entrepreneurs driving impact through innovation. It was a privilege to be part of this event alongside incredible change makers from Bluemethane, CUR8, FarmSmarterApp, and Revalue The discussion touched on the realities of scaling mission-driven businesses, from navigating impact investors, to making tough decisions while transitioning from building to scaling, to picking the right challenges to focus on for maximum impact. At SamudraOceans, we know that creating a scalable and sustainable ocean-tech business for blue carbon is no small task, but events like these reinforce the power of collective knowledge, resilience, and innovation in solving global challenges. A big thank you to the Google SFSD team and volunteers for fostering such an engaging space for social entrepreneurs. Together, we are proving that business can be a force for good! Igniting Change: A Fireside Chat with SFSD Entrepreneurs that Sparked Inspiration 🎇 This week in London, we had the privilege of hosting a captivating fireside chat with remarkable social entrepreneurs participating in our SFSD program: Andy Wilton, Louise Parlons Bentata, Jade Bouhmouch, Joyeeta Das, Paul Coker. Their stories of courage, innovation, and unwavering dedication to creating positive change resonated deeply with everyone present, including our dedicated Google volunteers. We heard firsthand about the hurdles they've faced, the creative solutions they've developed, and the profound impact they're making in their communities. Their insights illuminated the true meaning of social entrepreneurship: building a business AND building a better world is a challenge for few daring teams! “Picking your fights”, “handling impact investors with the assumption they would look at your business as any other investor", “making hard decisions on people to migrate from building to scaling” are few of the quotes we’ll bring home and will inspire new ways to support our exceptional startup cohort. We're incredibly proud to support these extraordinary individuals on their journey, and we're grateful to our Google volunteers for their invaluable contributions to this program. Together, we're building a future where business is a force for good. Thanks a million Bluemethane, CUR8, FarmSmarterApp, Revalue, SamudraOceans for your contributions, and thanks a lot to all our UK-based SFSD startups and our Google volunteers for making the discussion so engaging. #GoogleStartupsForSustainableDevelopment #SFSD

Really enjoyed representing Revalue in a fireside chat at Google yesterday, alongside some brilliant climate entrepreneurs, to talk about some of the challenges and opportunities of innovating in this space. Beyond the challenges of building a startup in a space that pushes for impact while also demanding commercial (and sometimes more than commercial) returns, one of the overriding take-aways for me was the need to build trust and overcome in-built biases. We as a climate community need to drive mass trust in innovations like methane solutions that can deliver exceptional impact and hardware solutions to develop blue carbon at scale, rebuild confidence in carbon markets, and overcome colonial biases preventing us from unlocking Africa's potential. Each piece is a critical part of the wider puzzle of tackling climate change. Knowing that we can play a pivotal role in this wider puzzle is a big driver for the work that we're doing at Revalue , building the most scientifically rigorous credits in the market. We're proving what is possible when exceptional multi-disciplinary teams come together around a common goal, and are excited to partner with this wider ecosystem to move mountains. Thank you for organizing this Irwin Boutboul , excited for the next one.
