This month, we're opening our seed round 🌱 to raise the investment we need to expand our production 🏭 , grow our research team 👩🔬 , and begin to make a nationally-significant dent on the recycling rates for post-consumer plastics 📈 To kick things off, I spent a few days in Zurich, Switzerland, to speak at a conference organised VIVA Investment Partners AG. It was really fun to be on stage alongside such high-calibre founders like Scarabtech and TUBR, and join a pan-European ecosystem of people who are absolutely sending it in their mission to eliminate waste and reduce emissions. Thanks to Julie Meyer for having me, and if you're a fund that believes that radical resource efficiency can enable the next generation of industrial giants - or is open to being persuaded - then please get in touch 🚀

We are getting closer to crunch time. Just over two weeks to go until the end of our application deadline for the next Venture Builder programmes in Berlin and Cambridge/London (both starting at the end of April). 💥 We would like to recommend two things to all those interested: A) Don't wait too long. We are deciding on a rolling basis and by the end of March there will only be a few places left. We will then have (even) more specific criteria. ⏰ B) We are offering a final webinar in which Carbon13's Co-founder and CEO Nicky Dee talks about what the focus is in the first two phases of the programme, what you should bring and how you can get the most out of the programme. ✨ (The link to register in in the comments) (In the picture you see Marina Fontoura, who together with Mai Silk is responsible for the first phase of the programme.)

Which skill is most important to build a highly scalable climate tech startup? 🐣 At Carbon13, we differentiate between four different founder types: Commercial, Venture Catalyst, AI/Software, Science/Hardware. And in preparation for each new cohort, we adapt our ideal vision of the individual types. For example, in recent weeks we have emphasised the importance of skills in the area of simulation software. Of course, there is no one answer and no one founder who guarantees success and impact, but you can approximate. ✨ Here is a great example of a #commercial #founder who will be part of Cambridge cohort 8 and in whose application we found many essential skills, experiences and values: "I'm in a place in life where I possess the financial runway, resilience, and readiness to take calculated risks, informed by over 12 years of experience building technology companies. I have the endurance to weather through unavoidable struggles, the business-savviness to scale climate solutions into success, and the drive to establish something that has a true impact on climate." What do you think makes a great tech/commercial founder? And even more important: When can we expect your application? We and the planet are counting on you! 🌍 --- In the comments you will find a short brochure about Carbon13, the link to our application portal and our next webinar with Carbon13 Co-founder and CEO Nicky Dee.

Hello Munich - Carbon13 is coming town. 🖖 🌍 Climate tech is dead - long live climate tech. ⭐️ Over the past few months, voices have become louder proclaiming the death of “climate tech”. The backlash was not long in coming. But there is undeniable momentum in the sector. It looks as if climate tech is diversifying further. 📣 We would like to dedicate this event to the question of what the next evolution of climate tech will look like and what lessons can be learned from the ups and downs of the sector. 💡 In two panels, we will take the perspectives of climate tech founders (at different stages) as well as the perspectives of climate focused angels and VCs. With us are: - Christian Spier, CEO at Differential Bio - Andrea Schneller, Founder and CEO at koorvi - Christian Deilmann, Co-Founder and Managing Director at tado° - Toba Spiegel, Investment Director at Trill Impact - Michael Langguth, Co-founder & CSO at Carbon13 - Moritz Vohler, Investment Manager at better ventures - Beatrice Böhm, Principal at GET Fund 🍹There will also be a lot of room for networking over drinks and snacks.
