Scientific Update 🔬 📣 Our scientist Hannah Langlands recently had a paper published from her PhD in Prof. Ash Toye's lab on the overexpression of antioxidant proteins in cell line derived reticulocytes. Ash Toye, our CSO, is giving a talk today at the annual 'Red Blood Cell Club' meeting at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia . He will be discussing the recent, groundbreaking discovery of a new blood group, MAL. This collaborative research between the team at NHS Blood and Transplant and University of Bristol identified the genetic background of the previously known but mysterious AnWj blood group antigen, which has been an outstanding puzzle for over 50 years. This development will help identify rare donors and help patients in the future.
