  • 🚀 SWA Conference 2025: "Kaizen" - Keynote Speaker Announcement! 🚀   We are thrilled to announce that Emma Henderson MBE MRAeS will be joining us as a keynote speaker at SWA Conference 2025: "Kaizen"!   Until 2020, Emma was one of fewer than 500 female airline captains worldwide, flying thousands of passengers across Europe. When the pandemic grounded the aviation industry, she made the difficult decision to step away from a flying career that spanned over three decades. Instead of looking back, she pivoted with purpose, founding Project Wingman, a charity that brought together thousands of airline professionals to provide wellbeing support to NHS frontline staff across the UK and beyond.   Emma’s remarkable journey—from the cockpit to the boardroom—has been defined by resilience, leadership, and adaptability. Throughout her career, she has inspired and empowered those around her, leading with grace under pressure. Recognised as Businesswoman of the Year in 2023, recipient of multiple industry awards, and made MBE for services to charity, Emma continues to shape the next generation as a STEM Ambassador, Aviation Ambassador for the UK Department for Transport, and mentor to aspiring pilots.   Her story is a powerful testament to perseverance, teamwork, and the ability to lead from the front—qualities that align perfectly with our Kaizen theme of "continuous improvement".    This is a session you won’t want to miss!   📍 Ardoe House Hotel & Spa, Aberdeen 📅 5th June 2025   Click on the link below for more info and registration:   🔗 https://lnkd.in/ei_wnkYb   Stay tuned for more speaker announcements!   #SWAConference2025 #Kaizen

  • Great to have Annie Wells MSP partake in a site visit organised by the SWA to our member Lomond Fine Foods today - one of the key employers in her constituency. She heard firsthand about their investment in growing their business, workforce and their transition to net zero. 🌱 By working closely with Scottish producers, Lomond has strengthened its business while contributing significantly to the Scottish supply chain an industry that was supported by SWA and the Scottish Government during Covid to ensure survival and future investment. The visit also highlighted key challenges facing Lomond and the wider wholesale industry, including: ⚠️ Rising National Living Wage & NI costs. ⚠️ Planning restrictions & regulations affecting business confidence and future investment. 🔑 Key takeaway: Employees are the heart of business success and while Lomond continues to invest and support their workers in a number of different ways, it’s important for Government to consider future employment challenges that businesses face. Such as an ageing population, a declining birth rate, and how Government taxation levers could help encourage more people, particularly women, back into work. #ScottishWholesale #Wholesale
