Calling all primary care staff! We are thrilled to host a new series of webinars where we showcase some of the fantastic work happening in South East London (SEL) practices for other primary care staff to learn from and be inspired by. The SEL Primary Care Digital Showcase series will focus on the use of digital tools and systems to improve services for patients and practices. This will be done by using ICB-funded tools already in place and new technology or local adaptations that are utilising digital transformation to have real evidenced improvements, such as reduced costs, saved staff time, or improved patient safety or patient care. These webinars will be held quarterly, led by primary care teams and supported by the Health Innovation Network. Our first webinar will be online on Wednesday, November 27, from 12:30 to 13:30pm GMT. We encourage you to register for this exciting event here: https://lnkd.in/giWS-RJt

It's #SickleCell Awareness Month, so we wanted to share some facts with you that you may not know... 🩸 Anthony Okereke , the leader of the council was born with sickle cell and since 2016 he sits for four hours every six weeks to have his blood exchanged. He needs 72 people to donate every year for him alone.🤯 🩸Sickle cell changes your red blood cells, causing them to be stiff, impacting the flow of oxygen causing pain. 🩸Almost 300 babies are born in the UK with sickle cell each year. 🩸Over 200 donations are needed every day to support people with the disease, and new figures have revealed that demand for blood to treat sickle cell patients has gone up by more than 50 percent since 2016. In collaboration with NHS Blood and Transplant and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust we were able to follow Anthony along to one of his transfusions. Watch the video below.📽️ Read more about #SickleCellAwarenessMonth in Royal Greenwich, including how you can donate blood at: https://lnkd.in/eJjFTe4E NHS Sickle Cell Society #BloodDonations #BloodTransfusion
