🔎 Do you know your 3 levels of inspections? Here’s a quick reminder ➡️ 1️⃣ Immediate Rack Inspection Your team need to be ‘safety aware’ when working in areas with racking. If they spot any areas of concern or problems with the racking they should immediately report them to a trained members of your team known as the Person Responsible for Racking Safety (PRRS). 2️⃣ Regular Rack Inspection Every week the PRRS should perform a detailed inspection of your storage equipment. This includes checking on any missing or damaged components, ensuring proper use and that load notice guidance is being followed. They should also maintain a written record of the findings. 3️⃣ Expert Rack Inspection The Expert inspection should be performed at least once a year by a technically competent person, such as a SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI) who has sufficient training and knowledge. The inspector should issue a detailed written report outlining observations, recommendations and proposals for any remedial work. #SARI #warehouseinspection #SEMAInspection #rackinginspector #rackinginspection

What is HSG76? Warehouses can be dangerous environments to work in which is why the HSE produced HSG76 Warehousing and Storage: A Guide to Health and Safety. This guidance documents also covers safety practices with racking. Here’s what they suggest: Racking should only be installed by competent people in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (they reference SEIRS as a programme for installation training). • Inspect your racking regularly using a three-tiered process for warehouse racking. • Anyone carrying out the visual (weekly) inspection will require training (they reference the SEMA Rack Safety Awareness course). • Expert inspections should be carried out by highly qualified individuals who have been trained and assessed to enhance their competency in practical and cognitive skill sets (they reference the SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI) initiative) Although it is not a legal requirement to adopt the information in HSG76, following the guidance is usually enough to comply with legislation. #HSG76 #HSE #WarehouseSafety #Storagequipment

With World Mental Health Day coming up tomorrow, it's the perfect time for warehouse owners to reflect on how to improve mental health in the workplace. Here are some ways you can make a positive impact: 🩵Build Positive Relationships: Encourage open communication by allowing your staff to talk and express their feelings. Sometimes, discussing a problem can significantly reduce stress. 🕒Encourage Breaks: Working in a warehouse can be tough and tiring. Allowing staff to take short breaks gives them the chance to rest and recharge. Also, fresh air can do wonders for mental clarity and improve well-being. 🎉Celebrate Accomplishments: No matter how small, recognising achievements helps to foster a positive atmosphere. 🦺Prioritise Safety: Providing a workspace where employees feel secure and safe is crucial. A safe environment not only protects physical health but also positively affects mental health. #WHO2024 #worldmentalhealthday #mentalhealth #warehousesafety #warehousestaff
