Thinking of a Marketing Collaboration with Another Brand? Collaborating and partnering with others can be a great way to grow your brand, enhance your entrepreneurial journey and also get a learning experience that you probably wouldn’t get on your own! You may have noticed that a number of brands in similar industries are doing similar marketing collaborations. For example, a number of credit cards and other financial services companies are offering similar add-ons to entice customers to sign-up. E.g., membership to streaming platforms. Do these add-ons get people to sign up? Does this get customers? Does this add value to the customer or the brands? If a lot of brands are offering the same add-ons, does it lose value? As an event marketer, trying to build your event brand: - do you partner with other brands to give add-ons to your audience? - How do you choose which brands to partner with? There probably isn't any definitive answer that can be given about whether 2 brands should partner and collaborate or not. Whether you’re going to partner with and collaborate with another corporate brand or an individual influencer, there are some questions that you can think about beforehand, apart from the financial cost: - What is your brand’s USP? - What is it that your audience value about your brand? - What add-ons (e.g., value added services) would your audience appreciate and get value from? - What are other brands in your industry offering to their customers? Are the add-ons fairly similar? Can you offer something different? - Do you have feedback from your audience about what add-ons they would like? - What is the USP of the partner brand? - Who are the audience of the partner brand and what geographical area do they cover? - What social proof does the partner brand have? - Does the partner brand add value to your audience? - Will the potential partner brand grow your audience? - What audience and, importantly, engagement does the partner brand have on their social media? - Who else does the partner brand collaborate with (any social proof?) and does this compete with your brand? - Will the partner brand give you feedback on your marketing and are they open to receiving feedback? This can be important as your audience may not always give feedback on what you’re doing well or not so well. You can probably think of some more questions. What do you look for before partnering with another brand? Event Planning: Getting in the Zone You’ve probably attended events where, for example, during a Q & A session, an attendee asks a question and other attendees then have follow-on questions. Then the discussion gets really interesting, the audience start leaning forward in their seats with more questions and comments – they’re engaged in your event. This is a great for the event and the organizers also. Your event is ‘in the zone’. Read more: link in the comments. #eventplanning #inthezone #events #eventmarketing #shareyaarnow

The Role of Event Professionals in the Marketing and Brand Ecosystem How do brands work with event professionals? Do you think brands work with event profs in the best way that they should? Or could? Event professionals play an incredibly important role in the marketing and brand ecosystem. Event (experiential) marketing is becoming an increasingly important part of overall marketing strategy. When brands use event marketing, they can: - Engage their audiences in more meaningful ways - Create communities - Give their audiences new experiences - Increase sales - Create brand ambassadors - Build their brands Further to my earlier article: ‘The CV of an Event Marketer’, when you look at job ads for event professionals, you see the following job titles: - Head of Delivery - Meeting Planner - Activities Director - Senior Producer - Project Manager - Event Coordinator - Event Specialist - Client Services - New Business - Event Manager And other titles. As an event professional, what’s your preferred job description? I think event professionals are given titles according to how they are perceived. Whether the job opening is: - In-house for a corporation - In a marketing agency - In an event management company - In a government organization Each of these organizations probably perceive the role of an event professional differently and hence the different job titles. If brands better understood the usefulness of event marketing to their brands, then they would probably perceive the role of event professionals differently and how best to work with them to grow their brands. Marketing Destinations: Event Hubs Las Vegas is not just about gambling but has become a major event hub – for business, entertainment and sports events - it hosts one of the F1 races. And, with the Las Vegas Sphere, is at the forefront of immersive events and marketing. Attendees to events there, get the Vegas vibe. Las Vegas is one of the locations that is at the cutting edge of the event (experiential) industry and marketing. It has plenty of large and small event venues to cater to all types of events. Vegas is not just an event location/destination but is a marketing destination. It’s a destination where marketers can better promote their products and services. What are other cities that can hold their own against Las Vegas? Events are great for the economy. Events, especially major events, bring in travellers which boost the tourism and hospitality industries. Event destinations are valuable for any city’s economy. City authorities that understand this, can help event marketers by making their cities more attractive to them. As an event marketer, you may not have the budget for hosting events in Vegas. But there may be local areas in your city that have a good vibe for entertainment and business venues where you can consider hosting your events. Read my earlier article: ‘Brand Matters’. What could your city do to make it more attractive to event marketers? Read more: https://lnkd.in/ddR_zJVA #marketingdestinations #eventhubs #eventmarketing #events #venues #shareyaarnow #shareyaar

How are Your Events Getting Discovered? SEO (Search Engine Optimization) used to mean optimizing content for Google. But now other social media, ecommerce and AI platforms are gaining ground in the search race. Marketers now also optimize their content for platforms such as Amazon, YouTube, TikTok and others. This is because you search for and discover what you are looking for, including events, not just on Google but also on these other platforms also. You use these other platforms to discover. Whether you are intentionally searching for something or just browsing and discover something that interests you. Social media, search engines, ecommerce and AI platforms are not just digital places to post content and transact but also becoming discovery engines for events and other things. In digital marketing, we seem to be going from SEO to discovery optimization. How will your content get discovered by those you want? How will your audience discover your events? You should see where your (potential) audience searches or discovers your events and try to optimize your content for those platforms.
