Ronya Naim, Ian Christie joined Sight Relief in our recent eye camps across northern Pakistan. Due to unprecedented rains the original plan was to spend 10 days in the Chitral region, however the rain and snow caused extensive landsliding and damage to roads and houses. For the teams safety, the decision was made to replan around other less affected areas. We still managed to get to Chitral, with a more agile team. Despite this setback, the team still managed to see around 1500 people, providing crucial eye screening, dispensed glasses, medication and arranged surgeries and access to Opthamologist. More details to follow on the trip in the coming days. We would also like to thank FincSelect and all those that have kindly donated, your generosity has been phenomenal. Without your support many underprivileged people would still be blind and in these areas without sight, not only to they lose their independence and ability to provide for their families, but also limit their family members who are forced to care for them. One of the eye camps we did with Sight Relief was located up in the Hindu Kush mountains in the Upper Chitral Region of Pakistan. It was a harrowing experience to drive there, definitely not for those afraid of heights…but the experience was remarkable. To be able to reach those who have no access to hospitals is exactly why Saddaqat Khan and Isma Tahir set up the charity and why Ian Christie and I felt blessed to support. A local medical practitioner and professor told us the nearest hospital was at least 3-4 hours away depending on the condition of the roads. We saw more than 200 people that day, handing out glasses and eye drops to those who needed, and referred 22 for cataract removal or specialist treatment. 🎂 It's our Birthday!!! 🎂 Two years ago, Ian and I did a high-five and started recruiting like our lives depended on it, starting the wonderful ride that has been FincSelect. 🥸 As a birthday present to ourselves, we have made a donation to Sight Relief, which is a PHENOMENAL charity run by the ever-humble Saddaqat Khan. This charity goes deeper and to the most remote of places to offer sometimes very simple solutions, to life-altering eyesight problems. Please check out their website https://lnkd.in/eajaFsQw, and if you can, please donate 💰 🤲🏼 🎂🍰 For today, we will continue to hustle and remain in awe at the immense support of this community. Thank you for your continued support, Your #1, financial crime fans (FincSelect)

This old lady had to be guided by her daughter to have her eyes tested, as she was unable to see where she was going. A simple pair of glasses costing £3.50 gave her back her independence. Testing eyes in Kalash Valley, Chitral, Northern Pakistan.
