📅 October is Black History Month in the UK and this year’s theme is “reclaiming narratives”. In line with this, we’re proud to launch a book club to further educate ourselves on Black History. 📚 The two books we’ve chosen are ‘An Olive Grove in Ends’ by award-winning, Bristolian author, Moses McKenzie and ‘Don't Touch My Hair’ by Emma Dabiri. We look forward to diving into these books, learning more about black history and discussing these stories with our colleagues and beyond. Want to read along with us or find other Black History Month reads? Visit black-owned, independent bookshop Afrori Books for some recommendations: https://lnkd.in/e5CegMBy #blackhistorymonth

Last week, through our wellbeing partnership with Smart About Health, we were delighted to host Dr Kathryn Kissell for a session on managing parental guilt. With so many in the workforce juggling parental and caregiving responsibilities, Kathryn brought a wealth of knowledge and empathy to our discussion, creating a space of belonging to share experiences and to challenge imposed or self-imposed expectations. Kathryn led an open and honest discussion on: 🧡 Recognising your emotional state, stress levels and how to support yourself and those in your team 📃 Strategies to reduce guilt and find acceptance 💬 How to create open dialogues at home to support your career ambitions ➕ Creating positive moments with families, when time is limited 😊 Maintaining and gaining confidence and security in both parent/carer and work roles A huge thank you to Kathryn and to all who participated. In line with this session, we're proud to launch our new internal network for parents and carers, designed to connect and support colleagues who are balancing professional and family responsibilities. 👩👩👦👦 #wellbeing #parentalguilt
