We are developing a new product called Aedon.Charities. At its heart is compliance with the Charity Statement of Recommended Practice The SORP is a well-intentioned piece of legislation. Unfortunately, its execution is clumsy and the format of the financial statements that it mandates is confusing and overly complicated for the normal readers. But that is only my view and my view does not matter. The Charity SORP is the law and all charities, regardless of size have to comply with it. The first part of our new product is creating a Chart of Accounts and Dimension Structure which supports Fund Accounting and classifying expenditure by Activities or Projects . Three-dimensional reporting is what we have entitled it. I am creating a white paper explaining how our Chart of Accounts and Dimensions will support the key SORP reports: - Statement of Financial Activities - Balance Sheet - Cash Flow Statement It will also help with the allocation of Governance and Support costs. I am looking for volunteers who will review this white paper and contribute to it. If you are struggling with the SORP or are an expert in it and are able to help, please contact me.
