Tune in at 38:30 to hear María Mendiluce, Sir Ian Cheshire, and Jesper Brodin discuss the future of sustainability for SMEs in this debut episode of a series of podcasts with Sustainable Views, a service from Financial Times, to celebrate 10 years of the We Mean Business Coalition.
🎙️ I recently joined We Mean Business Coalition Board Chair Sir Ian Cheshire and Jesper Brodin in recording the first in a special series of podcasts with Philippa Nuttall and the Financial Times’ Sustainable Views to mark 10 years of We Mean Business Coalition. The series will bring together leading voices from across the corporate climate community to share their insights into the major developments shaping our work. Since the founding partners came together to form the Coalition in the run up to COP21 in Paris, business climate action has been constantly evolving - because we are all learning about what works best to cut emissions as we go along. There are lots of reasons to feel optimistic. Over 16,000 companies are taking action through Coalition initiatives and 5 SMEs a day are signing up to the SME Climate Hub. Renewables are the fastest growing source of energy. But while the last 10 years were about setting ambition and understanding the corporate action needed, the next 10 years will be about removing barriers to implementation. We need to look at how to accelerate electrification, develop a plan to phase out #fossilfuels and replace them with clean solutions, and work to build consumer acceptance for the transition. I thank my fellow guests for being open in sharing the challenges they have faced, as well as the successes. 🎧 Listen here for free: https://lnkd.in/ejVCcWQS #ClimateNews

SME Climate Hub reposted this
What's the one topic I've noticed has been front and centre at London Climate Action Week? Small and medium sized businesses - from how they access financing to the support they need within large corporate supply chains. When the We Mean Business Coalition initiative, SME Climate Hub, surveyed its community of committed businesses earlier this year, 63% reported they had not been asked by any stakeholder to reduce emissions. There is a real opportunity for stakeholders, including large corporates, financial institutions and all organisations working with SMEs, to mobilize the SMEs in their value chains and networks. To help with this, we’ve released two new resources on the SME Climate Hub: - Mobilize your SMEs – guidance and ideas on how to mobilize SMEs in your value chains and networks through the SME Climate Hub https://lnkd.in/es2WdqbV - Our SMEs – where any stakeholder can easily track the progress of our SME commitments and reporting https://lnkd.in/ePNnP64g Check out the new tools today! #WMBC #LCAW
