#KinshipCareWeek is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible role that #KinshipCarers play in children’s lives and society. We know how hard life can be for kinship carers. When kinship carers step in to raise a child of a relative or close friend so much is thrown at them. But we’ve seen the amazing things they’re capable of. This year, the theme of Kinship Care Week is #ThisIsKinshipCare. It's an important time to help everyone understand what kinship care is. Anyone at anytime could become a kinship carer – stepping up to raise the child of a family member or friend. But it's not easy taking on a child who has had a difficult start in life when you are not prepared for it. So many kinship families and the many challenges they continue to face go unrecognised. So this year let's share #ThisIsKinshipCare so we can raise awareness about kinship care and what life is like for kinship families. Get involved: https://lnkd.in/eS8sQgwf

Kingswood is a town with a strong sense of community, and we want to support and build on that through a programme of investment. This includes Kingswood Park, Kings Chase, the Tabernacle and improvements to walking and cycling routes in and around the town. We've created a simple diagram with the projects that are part of the programme of investment in the town.👇 https://lnkd.in/eYcNqgAV #SouthGlos #Regeneration #Kingswood

Our ADEPT Live Labs 2 project ‘Greenprint’ is investigating a sustainable and replicable model for local authorities, to transform the role and value of green spaces and highway verges – to enable highways, waste and other service functions to work together to deliver environmental, social value, and financial benefits while reducing carbon emissions. Some key achievements from year one include: - cutting and collecting grass from 85 hectares of land, which is equivalent to 140 football pitches - establishing soil carbon sampling to analyse changes to the amount of carbon stored in the ground - beginning research into the impact the project has on biodiversity at selected sites To find out more read the short summary report:https://lnkd.in/eKh8pvQa #LiveLabs #Highways #NetZero

Our project, Greenprint, is trialling a new way to manage grass verges, including using cuttings to generate energy and reduce the carbon footprint associated with highways maintenance. We're part of ADEPT Live Labs 2: Decarbonising Local Roads in the UK, a three-year, UK-wide £30 million programme funded by the Department for Transport that aims to decarbonise the local highway network. To find out more about the project and our work on verge management, carbon, biodiversity and biomass processing read the project newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eVUXFxPn #LiveLabs #Highways #NetZero #Biodiversity #BiomassProcessing #VergeManagement #GreenEstate

Across South Gloucestershire, at specific sites, we're trailing reducing the frequency of grass cutting from 8-10 times a year to 4-5 times. It's part of our ADEPT Live Labs 2 Greenprint project and will support wildflowers to thrive and help to create a more diverse natural environment. Look out for biodiversity boosts in your local area. Find out more👇 https://lnkd.in/ec9vdcGg #LiveLabs #SouthGlos #LocalGov
