Energy for Tomorrow offers grant funding, tools and support to innovative energy projects that can drive a greener, fairer future for the South West. Whether you need £20,000 to install an EV charging point or £100,000 to fund a transformative energy tool, they want to hear from you. About us
Here at Spark Somerset, we support and champion local Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations. We do this by providing a range of services, training and advice to inspire them to change lives and help build resilient communities. We also believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive. So we work with local partners to provide volunteering opportunities for all. We are passionate about the value of social action – to tackle social isolation, to overcome adversity, to improve health and wellbeing, to develop skills and confidence, and to build stronger communities. Our volunteering website, Spark a Change, connects hundreds of people to local good causes every year. As a Countywide charity, we can work at scale, sharing our expertise, making connections, advocating on behalf of the sector and building partnerships to make an even bigger impact. We became Spark in April 2016 following the merger of SSVCA's Voluntary Sector Support project and Mendip Community Support. On 1 January 2019, we moved our operations to a new CIO and became Spark Somerset. We provide information, advice, training and support to charities and community groups. We represent the sector on strategic bodies, both at a District and County level. We also run the Volunteer Service, inspiring people to get involved and make a difference in their communities.

☀️We had a fabulous day at #TauntonTogether over the weekend. It was great chat with people about our work across the local area and invite #youngpeople into our outdoor #youthclub!! 👥A small team of our young volunteers from our participation and leadership group The Core Network helped run activities and engaged other young people. 🛜We also received donations and raised funds towards our work, networked with other agencies and general had a fab day all round. 🙏Thanks to all the organisers and supporters of the event for making it happen. 📣 Call for Tenders – Evaluation of VCFSE Sector Capacity Building and Volunteering Support We’re looking for experienced evaluators to help measure the impact of our vital work supporting the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector across Somerset. Funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, this 12-month project aims to build capacity within the VCFSE sector, raise the profile of volunteering, and support grassroots community initiatives. We’re seeking a dynamic partner who can co-develop creative and mixed methodologies to measure the impact on the sector and its beneficiaries. The evaluation will cover nine key objectives, including assessing our community training, peer networks, the creation of an online insights hub, and our county-wide volunteering campaign. It was great to support the Food Conversations event at the weekend, which brought together community food and growing groups In Somerset. We took part in “the Big Food Conversation", where 60+ attendees shared their views to influence national policy. We also explored a beautiful community garden, heard from local food projects and enjoyed a seed swap and networking! There was also a fabulous live workshop which taught us creative new ways to use food we might otherwise throw away. Thank you to Somerset Community Food for organising a fantastic day!
