Sam George and I will be attending the Bisnow 𝗨𝗞 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 tomorrow.   With the UK’s life sciences sector continuing to grow at pace, the demand for high-quality, flexible lab and research space has never been greater. The challenge now is delivering future-proofed, sustainable buildings that can support scientific breakthroughs while attracting and retaining top talent.   At Spratley & Partners, we’re working on Ascent in #Oxford for ARC | Advanced Research Clusters. This 105,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to drive innovation in the science, technology, and innovation sectors. Once complete, it will create around 500 jobs, contribute £38 million GVA annually, and offer best-in-class features, including lab-ready spaces, a rooftop terrace, wellness areas, a gym, and end-of-trip facilities.   Looking forward to discussing the future of #lifesciences real estate and how we can continue to create high-performance environments that enable research and discovery. See you there!   🔗 Ascent: https://lnkd.in/eMcH6u6f

  • We’re pleased to share that our proposals for 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗲, 𝗢𝘅𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 have received planning consent. This is a complex and sensitive project, balancing #heritage, #landscape, and #sustainability to deliver five carefully designed homes. Set within the grounds of The Old Vicarage, a local heritage asset on the edge of Shiplake, the site is surrounded by mature trees, open countryside, and key village landmarks, including a Listed church and Shiplake College. Our design responds to these challenges with a layout that improves the relationship between buildings and landscape, retains existing character, and introduces materials in keeping with the local vernacular. A huge thank you to everyone who helped shape this development. We’re looking forward to the next stage. • We've had some great conversations over coffee and croissants this week following #InternationalWomensDay. In Bristol, S&P co-organised and sponsored another #RiseCollective networking breakfast at Design West's The Architect Cafe with Veronica Barbaro, Candice Quartermain, Kate Cowdy and Mona Lindell. The event sparked conversation on how everyone can play a role in unlocking equal rights, sharing power, and empowering the next generation to drive lasting change. Attendees made some real commitments to creating more inclusive workplaces. Thank you to all those that joined us! As Candice Quartermain highlights in her post yesterday, these conversations matter, and the actions we take from them matter even more. In Henley, Veronica Sanchez and Faye Williams brought together women from across our studio, from Associate Directors to Part I students, for a breakfast catch-up and celebration. A lovely chance to talk about projects and life and strengthen connections within our own team. Thank you Faye and Veronica for organising. #IWD2025 #WomenInConstruction

  • Last week, our team was on-site for 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁, our project for ARC | Advanced Research Clusters in #Oxford. With the buildings cleared, we could appreciate the scale of the site. This state-of-the-art 105,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to drive innovation in the 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀. Once complete, Ascent will create around 500 jobs, contribute £38 million GVA annually, and provide best-in-class features, including lab-ready spaces, a rooftop terrace, wellness areas, a gym, and end-of-trip facilities. We're looking forward to sharing more updates as construction progresses. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/eBa2d6VF

  • A glance back to our project at 𝟮𝟭 𝗦𝘁. 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀’𝘀 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲, a historically significant commercial office in Westminster. The substantial redevelopment and refurbishment of the building delivered high-specification office space and luxurious interior finishes, befitting its urban setting at the heart of the UK's most valuable real estate area. Designed and built by celebrated British architect Robert Adam in the 1770s, with a Grade I listed façade, 20 St. James’s Square was extended in 1936 to include number 21. The two buildings were separated before work began on this commercial redevelopment project. S&P maximised lettable space, improved efficiency, and delivered high-spec office interiors that meet the demands of modern occupiers. The project included separating Nos. 20 and 21, reconfiguring floor plates, and upgrading MEP systems while preserving the building’s historic character. The outcome is a commercial space that combines architectural integrity with commercial success. • We’re excited to be working on a new project for Leander Club, right on our doorstep in Henley-on-Thames. The scheme for the Club's new riverside balcony is a great opportunity to contribute to the local fabric of a place we know and love. Looking forward to sharing more as it progresses. History meets progress! We're thrilled to announce the commencement of construction on a meticulously designed riverside balcony, restoring and improving upon a cherished original feature lost in the 1980s, as seen in this 1898 photograph. This project exemplifies our commitment to preserving our rich heritage while enhancing our facilities for the future. Designed by local architects Spratley & Partners and structurally engineered by Henley's own CentreSpace Design, the balcony, due for completion this summer, will wrap around our west elevation, offering stunning views of the river. This addition will create a new, exceptional social space for our members, complementing the success of our existing deck. We're also enhancing our dining and balcony rooms with new full-height glazing, maximising the unbeatable Henley reach views. We've taken great care to minimise disruption, scheduling major work during club closure days and ensuring our athletes can continue their training. We appreciate your understanding as we embark on this exciting chapter. #HeritageRestoration #ArchitecturalDesign #HenleyOnThames #CommunityDevelopment #Innovation Spratley & Partners Centrespace Design

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁? Yesterday, I travelled five hours for a site visit to one of our breath taking projects in 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻 – and it was absolutely worth it! The new extension is coming together beautifully, with large sliding doors and aluminium windows from IQ Glass UK now being installed. One of the standout features is the 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 in Douglas Fir, culminating in a rooflight. Thanks to a truly holistic design approach between PCA Consulting Engineers, Carpenter Oak Ltd, and our team, the ceiling looks fantastic, creating a spacious and light-filled kitchen area. Externally, the extension is finished in 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 with a traditional 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 roof. Huge credit to the contractor for their exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship. I also had the pleasure of meeting interior designer Lauren Gilberthorpe in person—always great to connect beyond the inbox! On the journey back, I felt incredibly privileged to be involved in projects like this. Special thanks to Luke Copley-Wilkins , Luke Shackleton and Emma Greene for their contribution to the project.  #Architecture #Design #Glazing #Construction #Devon #SiteVisit #Collaboration
