The Shearer family from Prestwick is set to hold a second golf day in memory of the much-missed Gary (pictured front), a beloved local veteran who received significant support from SSAFA the Armed Forces charity before his passing. The event will take place on Friday 4 October 2024, at St. Cuthbert’s Golf Club.

Royal Navy sailor, Max Termini, 41, from Stockton has successfully completed the gruelling 4,000km North Cape 4000 cycling challenge, raising vital funds for SSAFA the Armed Forces charity.

Yesterday (22 August), the Honourable Artillery Company in London played host to the launch event for Project Fire and Ice, a self-supported ultra-challenge trek through the Arctic Circle which takes place in March 2025. The team is made up of celebrated ex-Forces members who are doing the challenge on behalf of SSAFA the Armed Forces charity. A crowd of around 8,000 gathered for this year's Nairn Highland Games and the whole event ran smoothly, thanks in part to the support given by SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, whose local volunteers took on a range of stewarding and other duties.

"Inspired by my dad’s courage, we’re proud to give back." Nikkole Jamieson, daughter of triple amputee Gary Jamieson, is leading her burlesque dance troupe of 20 performers in this year’s The Kiltwalk #Edinburgh on 15 September, to raise funds for SSAFA the Armed Forces charity.

In celebration of #ArmedForcesWeek, Milbank Concrete Products Limited, Cadman Cranes and Sui Generis International Ltd collectively pledged a donation of £1,050 to SSAFA the Armed Forces charity. John Arthur and James Dodson of SSAFA Essex's Braintree Division were on hand to accept the group’s generous donation.
