Our very own CMO, Victoria Heath, is a judge at this year's #DMAAwards. DMA (Data & Marketing Association) UK's awards celebrate creative campaigns that #gofurther, selecting only those with the best innovation and results in direct marketing. We may be biased, but we think there's no one better to judge these criteria than Vic! Best of luck to all this year’s applicants 🏆

Working parents across the UK will save over £7bn in #childcare costs this summer holidays, thanks to heroic grandparents. Our latest #research found 43% of the UK’s 14 million grandparents look after their grandchildren over school holidays, offering an average of 18 hours of support a week (+8% since 2023). Mark Screeton comments: “Holiday clubs can be really expensive, and childminders or nannies even more so. So it’s lucky that so many parents are able to rely on grandparents to help out. 43% tell us they are looking after their grandchildren in the school holidays – up from 37% last year – which could be saving families hundreds or even thousands across the school year.” https://lnkd.in/eyM86cvR

Some great photos from our Big Volunteer Day in Bristol last week! SunLife colleagues helped to provide a day of respite for local carers in our community, in support of Rethink Mental Illness. Volunteers facilitated a nature walk, park games, food and drink service and craft sessions for attendees who provided glowing feedback. All SunLife colleagues are entitled to 3 volunteer days each year, which can be arranged on an individual or team level. What kinds of corporate volunteer days have you been a part of? #GivingBack #Volunteering

There are over 500,000 retirees still paying off their mortgages in the UK, from an average household income of £30,000. Our Life Well Spent report found that 7% of retirees have an outstanding mortgage, with an average of £33,000 remaining. As Mark Screeton explains, those struggling with these monthly payments and not willing to downsize could consider releasing #equity from their homes. By releasing equity to pay off an existing mortgage, eligible homeowners could reduce or entirely eliminate monthly repayments, and top up their retirement funds in the process. “There’s a big difference between 10 years’ experience, and one year’s experience ten times”. Sharon Smyth’s passion for learning and development has taken her career in directions she never expected when she was a young athlete. Her curiosity has led her to explore multiple roles with Phoenix Group, including most recently spending 6 months with us as interim Chief Marketing Officer. Not only did this provide yet another new learning experience from Sharon, but the SunLife teams working with her were able to benefit from her wealth of knowledge and ideas.
