Joined mis amigos at Imperial College London yesterday for the kickoff of the UK AI Agent Hackathon by the Imperial Blockchain & FinTech & I-X AI Society | Imperial AI Group Societies. Students have got 4 weeks to ship a MVP, onboard their first customers, iterate on their feedback, and refine the product + pitch ahead of a demo day on 13th April. Loved feeling the energy of enthusiasm and hearing the students bounce their ideas around, but one of the key things I stressed to them was to "niche down". It's a lesson all inspiring founders and builders can take note on - it's basically the idea when you want to go from 0 -> 1 it's better to be very clear on who your audience is, and reframe your product to them. An example was a mature masters student (previously a doctor) was wanting to build an AI agent that helps doctors record their consults and create profiles on their patients with detailed notes and recommendations - making doctors faster at delivering quality care, and enabling better communication across doctors, nurses, and specialist consults. Now instead of thinking about it as a general care AI agent support - you could focus the AI Agent's usecase towards a single ward on the hospital e.g., maternity ward - this focus gives you the ability to create a much more nuanced and valuable product, whilst making it simpler to ship an MVP and get your first customers. Instead of trying to train your AI agent on all medical conditions, you'd focus on ones only applicable to maternity patients. Instead of getting pulled in many directions by feedback from different types of doctors/nurses, you'd focus purely on maternity wards who share the same problems. Instead of trying to pitch a product anyone could use, you can frame your narrative to make those doctors/nurses so they feel like the product is custom tailored to them and offers a solution to their unique problems. Meaning that when you're in that Demo Day at the end of the hackathon, instead of pitching an airy fairy change-the-industry product, the judges will be able to see a clear path towards product-market-fit (which is ultimately what hackathons are designed to do - accelerate you finding PMF). Reflecting on our International Women's Day event last Friday, and just about able to catch my breath today after the room left me absolutely floored. Great ambiance, incredible selection of talented and exceptional women, delicious food and whiskey galore for the Scotch enthusiasts! 🥃 Women in the tech industry, especially in web3, are taking up space that we have rightfully earned through our hard work, expertise, intelligence, and tenacity. Yet, our character and integrity are questioned constantly. If you're in a top position, they wonder how you got there. If you're at a starting position, they wonder if you're smart enough. But as I said on our panel, as a woman, you have to welcome that struggle. Pragmatically, there's no running away from that. Use it as a chip on your shoulder, allow it to strip your pride, and let the faith you have in yourself be tried under the fire and let it turn to gold to not only prove–but to also show your value. Grateful to have been able to share that panel with Stefania Barbaglio and Mimi Ikonn who had so much more wisdom than I could ever have provided. My advice for other women in this space? We have this beautifully unique thing with each other called "sisterhood". Lean into it. Be a girl's girl. When you see a woman doing phenomenal things, mention her name in rooms she's not in, support, uplift and exalt her any way you can. When you also find the men who do the same for you, hold on to them because they're the ones who will respect and affirm you when other men are doing the opposite; they're allies you'll need. Honoured to say that I've found that in my boys at Superteam UK. And finally, surround yourself with women of excellence. Their aura, ambition, and audacity will inspire you to be better immediately. Happy International Women’s Day! 💐 Last night I had a great time at the Accelerate London #IWD event. I left feeling super inspired and pumped up - it would be hard not to, with a room full of inspirational women, insightful talks and all-round good energy! My journey as a founder in the web3 space hasn’t been smooth sailing but I was reminded that nothing worth having comes easy and I’m not alone in my journey. Excited for what’s to come this year! Almost ready to release the second and wayyy better version of my female investing app that I’ve been able to double down. Happy International Womens Day 2025 to all! This year’s theme is #AccelerateAction, and I’m taking this opportunity to reflect and feel grateful for all the amazing women who have helped me in my career over the years with friendship and support, and made such a huge difference, and thinking of ways I can pass on that same support and allyship to others in years to come. At the Accelerate London #IWD event yesterday with Superteam UK and Cambridge Frontier Technologies Laboratory we were joined by inspirational women trailblazing in the emerging tech and VC space. A message I took away was: ‘it only takes one person who believes in you to make a difference!’ - Who knows what challenges you’ll encounter in your career, but mentorship and support is such an important way to overcome them. Let’s all do more of that!
