School capital maintenance funding saw a £300 million increase for the coming fiscal year. However, the longer-term outlook for the school estate remains unclear as we await the Chancellor’s Spring Forecast on the 26th March. With maintenance funding currently under review by the Department of Education, our latest insight report considers the current system for issuing capital maintenance funding, exploring its origins, purpose and potential implications of changing it. In late December, we completed and handed over the new Trust Offices (HQ3) at The Joseph Whitaker School, part of the East Midlands Education Trust. Leveraging the efficiency of modular construction, we delivered the project – from the demolition of the former caretaker’s house to completion – in a remarkable 10 weeks. Meet Farren Angrave! Farren has been immersed in building surveying for the past ten years. In 2015, he completed a Master’s in Building Surveying while working part-time for a large firm in Birmingham, gaining valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of projects.
