▶️ More London councils are supporting food partnerships and working collaboratively with their community. ▶️ Almost three in four councils surveyed reported the benefits of taking part in this annual benchmarking; tracking action against their peers and improving how they tackle local issues means they are taking a more joined-up, strategic approach to addressing food insecurity, health and sustainability. ▶️ Read comments for full report Great work from the Good Food Local team Isabel Rice Hannah Crump Sarah Williams!!
I'm incredibly proud to share this year's Good Food Local: the London report, and inspired by all the fantastic work of councils going above and beyond despite challenging times. The report shows more councils in London are supporting food partnerships, working with businesses, the community and the voluntary sectors to tackle local and complex, cross-sector food issues. The #GoodFoodLocal London report tracks council action on our most pressing food issues and helps councils prioritise food work so that more Londoners can eat and enjoy healthy, sustainable and affordable food. Thanks to all participating councils for the huge amount of work you put in, both to the report and your unwavering dedication to action on food in your boroughs. Thanks to my colleagues at Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming and all our partners for making this happen. And a big congratulations to our award winners!

Although we've won the battle and not the war (decision is made at committee next week) this is a huge achievement for the campaign. A brilliantly thorough report from Claire Dorgan and the planning officers at the Borough Council of Kings Lynn & West Norfolk lists insufficient data on the environmental cost of the development post Sarah Finch as a reason for refusal 😮 Amazing what happens when communities and campaigners work together to protect the future of this beautiful planet 💚 Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming Feedback #food #factoryfarm #meat #pig #poultry #climatechange #agribusiness
🎉Massive news!🎉Huge proposed factory farm in Norfolk = close to being cancelled after 10,000s of objections - the council's official planning committee has recommended that planning permission be refused! Food giant Cranswick want permission to raise millions of chickens and 10,000s of pigs in a US-style mega-farm. This would cause sky-high emissions, risks pollution to local rivers and air, and raises serious animal welfare concerns. Now, the planning committee has said loud and clear: Cranswick "fails to demonstrate that the development would not result in significant adverse effects on the protected sites" - and recommends the council refuse permission. Feedback and Sustain have been working hard to challenge the mega-farm on environmental grounds and raise opposition, so it's excellent news to see this development. With 10,000s of locals/the public submitting objections, will the council do the right thing? King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council will meet next month to make the final decision - all eyes on the meeting next month!👀 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eyaVA5hh #food #meat #plantbased #lessandbettermeat #climatechange #climatecrisis #biglivestock
