We firmly believe there is no ‘one size fits all’ method of decarbonising the way we heat our homes. At the SEA, we take a technology agnostic approach to heat and buildings policy and look forward to learning more about the Government’s future plans. The planned introduction in 2025 of the Future Homes Standard and Future Buildings Standard will be an important next step in creating sustainable buildings. Yet, this forward thinking is lacking in retrofit policy. It’s clear there is plenty of room for broader industry engagement on the issue of efficient buildings. At the SEA, we will be looking at offering some innovative policy and standard proposals to help address these matters. Hear more from our Interim Chief Executive, Dave Sowden, who explains what the new government’s initial heat and energy commitments mean for the built environment in H&V News. We’re seeing good progress in heat pump installations through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Due to the increase in applications, the Secretary of State has given permission for Ofgem to over-allocate vouchers, by up to £50 million in this financial year, to a total of up to £200 million. This will ensure consumers and industry can continue installing heat pumps through the scheme for the remainder of the financial year. Check if you’re eligible for a grant: https://lnkd.in/e6xZ-cBc #HeatPumps #Installation #Energy
