Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is an international organization that works in partnership with the United Nations and leaders in government, the private sector, financial institutions, civil society and philanthropies to drive faster action towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) – access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 – in line with the Paris Agreement on climate. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon launched the Sustainable Energy for All initiative in 2011. Global initiatives to end energy poverty and drive a just transition unveiled at SEforALL, Africa50 and Enel Corporation event at UNGA79 Africa50, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Enel Corporation successfully co-hosted the ‘Raising Ambition on SDG7’ on the sidelines of #UNGA79 in New York. This event included impactful discussions about delivering a just and equitable energy transition, with a focus on mobilizing finance and distributed energy solutions; the strategic role of Energy compacts in advancing global energy transitions; and solutions to bridge energy access gaps beyond traditional power grids. Alain Ebobissé, #Africa50 CEO, gave a keynote address on “The Transformative Potential of Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) systems and Africa’s Role in Closing the Global Energy Access Gap in Order to Reach SDG7” ahead of the “Unlocking Financing for Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE)" panel. 🌍 Today the Energy Compacts Progress Report was officially launched at the #SDG7ActionForum! Explore our collective efforts to achieve SDG7 and accelerate the global transition to clean, affordable energy. 🔋 Key Highlights: • Renewable energy capacity more than doubled to 245GW 🌱 • 43.3 TWh saved through energy efficiency efforts ⚡ • Over 2.7 million electric vehicles added to the roads 🚗 However, there’s still work to do—particularly in accelerating clean cooking access for the 2.1 billion still reliant on polluting fuels. Energy Compacts showcase the power of partnerships in transitioning towards a clean, just, and sustainable energy future, and they are poised to play a critical role in the lead-up to COP30 and the Pact for the Future.
