Great to be in Stormont today to participate and speak in a round-table discussion on the short- and long-term benefits of #POCT and Community Diagnostics on the NHS and public health. An opportunity to share our experience at South West London Pathology #POCT and highlight the outcomes of diabetes and cardiovascular disease screening in the primary care setting, and the role the virtual wards programme is playing in managing patients in the community and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions. More community-based diagnostics, shifting care closer to home and disease prevention were key recommendations of Lord Darzi's report thay was released last week. #POCT is a key enabler and and is integral to achieving these recommendations. Many thanks to Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland and Sinead Murphy for facilitating and organising this event. Looking forward to the next phase of the discussions.

World Sepsis Day: Improving Pathways, Saving Lives On #WorldSepsisDay, Southwest London Pathology (SWLP) reaffirms its commitment to faster and more accurate sepsis detection. In 2023, in collaboration with bioMérieux, we introduced Virtuo incubators at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, reducing the time it takes to begin testing blood cultures for sepsis. This development means quicker results, allowing for early diagnosis and potentially life-saving treatments. Faster turnaround times are crucial in the fight against sepsis, as every minute counts when it comes to patient outcomes. As we mark World Sepsis Day, let's remember that early detection can save lives. Together, we can #StopSepsis and ensure better outcomes for all. Learn more: https://shorturl.at/WiiHb
