🌍 Giving back to our communities 🌿 Recently, several teams from across Sykes Cottages and our regional brands participated in the Million Mile Clean, a fantastic initiative by the charity Surfers Against Sewage. This campaign aims to tackle the growing issue of litter on our beaches, streets, rivers, parks and coastlines. 👍The teams used one of their two paid volunteering days to join the fight against pollution and contribute to cleaner, healthier environments. ✔️At Sykes, we believe in empowering our people to give back to the communities we care about. Through our paid volunteering days, staff can take time away from their usual work to support causes that make a difference. 📊 Sykes Cottages' Holiday Letting Pulse Report August 2024📊 Our latest monthly Holiday Letting Pulse Report is here, offering data-driven insights into the UK holiday rental market! 🏡 Whether you're an owner, guest or simply curious about market trends, this report sheds light on shifting consumer behaviours and performance highlights from August 2024: ✔️ Shorter breaks, booked last minute are on the rise, with consumers opting for more spontaneous getaways. ✔️ The average property saw a 23% increase in arrivals compared to August 2023 ✔️ 58% of searches on Sykes Cottages in August were for holidays within August or September 2024. ✔️ The average length of stay was 5.3 nights—a 6% decline from August 2023 and 11% lower than the 2024 average. ✔️ Top-performing regions included Cumbria & The Lake District, Dorset, and North Wales 🌍 ✔️ Three-bedroomed holiday lets topped the charts as the best-performing property size for August. James Shaw, Stephen Joyce, Joe Cross and I had the pleasure yesterday of stepping out of the office and visiting our colleagues at Best of Suffolk. It was a great day sharing with them our plans, focuses and step change for the future, whilst also learning about all the great things this team does for their owners. Looking at what they achieve they clearly make a huge impact and care a lot about what they do. Thank you Becky Alderton and team for hosting us and we can’t wait to see what’s still to come from the Best of Suffolk team. Tuesday was my first volunteer day while working for Sykes Holiday Cottages. myself a colleagues from Manor Cottages UK Ltd were at Cleveland Nature Reserve. Guided by Matt from the Cotswold Water Trust we were coppicing areas thick with Willow trees for conservation purposes. It was very physical compared to our daily work in the office, but like any task we are faced with as a team, we got the job done. It was very rewarding to see the fuits of our labour at the end of the day with how much we had cleared at the end, standing there wearing our beads of sweat like medals. We had such a wonderful day, and felt honoured to be able to assist a local charity in this way.
