Tate & Lyle's purpose, Transforming Lives Through the Science of Food, inspires everything we do. Whether it’s by making food and drink healthier and tastier; continuously improving how we work; promoting a safe working environment; or making a difference to our local communities, we believe we can successfully grow our business and have a positive impact on society. What is it we do? Simply put, we make healthy food tastier and tasty food healthier. Our work is driven by consumer health needs and trends, governments desire to build and support healthy communities, and the need for affordable food and nutrition in many parts of the world. We deliver ingredients and solutions to meet all these needs. Our speciality sweeteners and fibres help reduce sugar and calories. Our fibres fortify food and improve digestive health. Our texturants and stabilising systems help extend shelf-life and make food manufacturing easier. Across the globe, we are transforming lives through the science of food. And we need talented and skilled people to help us on this journey.

    This World Mental Health Day we want to highlight what we as a business are doing to support those who work in our business, whether they be our employees or contractors. Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offers access to health and wellbeing tools and support to each employee and members of their household. This service is free to our people and available 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have trained 100 mental health first aiders across our sites globally. This year our network grew again, with our first volunteers in our Middle East and Africa region. We organise discussions on broader mental health related challenges. For example, in the US, its popular Wellbeing Wednesdays sessions have covered a range of topics, such as financial wellbeing and emotional strength. Our aim is to ensure that everyone in our business: 🫶can proactively invest in their own mental health 🦾is equipped to empathise with and support colleagues 🤝is supported when they face challenges with their mental health. Health and wellbeing are part of our purpose targets, and we track how we’re doing through our annual employee survey. The report, which reviewed 400 of the UK’s largest employers, from a variety of sectors, assessed gender pay gap, the percentage of women on the board and the transparency of parental policies. Not only did we make the WiW100, we were also recognised as only one of five true trailblazers with transparent policies, a pay gap of less than 1%, and an equal board.     While it’s true to say that everyone needs more fibre, emerging research is showing that we also need a variety of fibres to have a healthy gut environment as different fibres have different effects, relevant at different stages in life. Eating more fibre has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease as well as slower risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity, which affect people of all ages. Our modelling research shows that adding fibre to popular foods and drinks, at the levels allowed by the regulation in the UK, could provide real health benefits such as reducing the risk of cardiovascular and Type-2 diabetes for 72% of the UK adult population.  Learn more about brain health and dietary fibres with Dr Kavita Karnik, Tate & Lyle’s Global Head of Nutrition, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs. #FutureofFood #FibreFortification #NutritionScience #GutHealth #HealthyLiving

    We have taken a major step forward in delivering our climate targets thanks to our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with @Enel_NA and our existing agreement for renewable electricity in McIntosh, Alabama.  We will deliver more than:  🌱 an 80% reduction in Tate & Lyle’s annual global Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and   🌱 a 25% reduction in our annual global Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (from the 2019 baseline).    This is a significant milestone in our journey towards reducing our carbon footprint.     100% of the purchased electricity in our North American operations will now come from renewable sources!   256,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable electricity from a new wind farm in Texas. That’s what our long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in North America for renewable electricity with energy company, Enel North America, will deliver annually.   The combination of this new PPA and our existing agreement for renewable electricity in McIntosh, Alabama, will mean that 100% of the purchased electricity in our North American operations will now come from renewable sources. These two agreements will deliver more than an 80% reduction in Tate & Lyle’s global Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and more than a 25% reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (from the 2019 baseline).  🎉We think that is worth celebrating!   Here’s what our Director of Sustainability, Anna Pierce, had to say about it:    “We are delighted to have partnered with Enel on this Power Purchase Agreement, and to support the development of additional renewable energy in North America.
