We are throwing it back to the Waverley Gardens extra case housing scheme today! Back in 2019 our ADVANCED wall panel system and I-joists were used to extend Brunelcare Waverley Gardens in Bristol, adding 62 flats and a larger restaurant. Mark Harries E G Carter & Co Ltd explains why timber frame was the selected build method: “The Waverley Gardens project was constructed on a tight urbanised site; therefore, a timber frame superstructure was the perfect solution for such a build. We have constructed 49 homes at Shackleton Heights in #Bristol, an affordable homes development by housing provider Abri Group. The project was completed by Speller Metcalfe for Abri Group with grant funding support from Homes England. Timber frame was the build method of choice for the houses on the site. Comment from Speller Metcalfe: “Timber frame is a quicker construction method than building the houses from traditional masonry. It also allows us to achieve greater air tightness for SAPS and Building Regulations.” The development has contributed to regeneration in Lockleaze, Bristol.
