About us
TEDxLondon is building a community of storytellers that are shifting our society in the right direction. We are TEDxLondon, find yourself here. About TEDxLondon London defies a singular definition. A city where 300 languages are spoken, it is a gathering place where its people, from a wealth of different cultures and experiences, generate an astonishing complexity of cultural, academic, technological and commercial riches. TEDxLondon reflects and draws on the energy and dynamism of this purposeful city through the inspiring, thought-provoking and entertaining speakers and the engaged and enthusiastic audiences that attend our world-class TEDx events. Our speakers are often involved, day-to-day, in thinking and doing something about the big and difficult questions our society faces; TEDxLondon is the place to step back, deepen our understanding of the world and engage in this conversation. Our aim is for everyone that attends our events to discover and share stimulating, fascinating and intriguing ideas and to step back on to the London street feeling just a bit more encouraged, inspired and hopeful. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

We love this summary of what's coming up in #ClimateCuriousPod inspired by TED Countdown 2024 in Brussels via our podcast producer, Josie Colter 👇
Back from a couple of incredible days at TED Countdown 2024 in Brussels – overcoming dilemmas in the green transition. Across eight interviews, 21 TED Talks, and 4 workshops, here are some of my key takeaways I'm taking into the end of 2024: 🍯⚡"You can fight for something serious, without taking yourself too seriously." ~Wyn Wiley 🧿⛅ "History is an undervalued resource for thinking about the future of humanity." When everybody's busy futurecasting and using foresight, don't be afraid to use backsight. History shows us that we can bend, not break. ~Roman Krznaric 🏄♀️ 🪸 "Narratives unlock the futures that we all deserve." Climate must break its victim narrative. The movement needs to platform narrative leadership by unearthing and delivering fuller, more nuanced stories. ~Fenton Lutunatabua 🥭🧩 "Find your mango." Tell stories of people protecting things that they love that are being threatened by climate change, like skiing, mangoes, coffee. ~Katherine Dunn 🐆🫧The transition to a sustainable global economy is urgent, messy and uncertain. We must be kind and supportive to each another. ~Mauricio Porras 🎬 💫 "Action begets beliefs." Action leads to awareness, not awareness to action. ~Kris De Meyer 🛼 🪄It's vital to celebrate the wins coming from unexpected places. This might be new engineering techniques that can transform the grid, ~Jason Huang, or certifying sustainable palm oil ~Andika Putraditama, or the EU methane regulations win ~Daniel Zavala-Araiza. 🪐✨New solutions must centre local communities and honour centuries of indigenous knowledge and land stewardship. ~Galina Angarova If people in the Stone Age can literally topple Gods to help make sense of their changing world, like they did with the folklore story of Ragnarok, so can we! ~Lauren Fadiman. ~~~ Overall – it was great to come together in community and see that everyone is facing their own roadblocks. You're not alone. There's going to be resistance when we're trying to steer people in a new direction. This doesn't mean you're failing. It probably means you're onto something. Possibly even a breakthrough! But consistency is key. Collaboration is key. And you have to keep pushing. ~~~ 💖 Thank you to the TED team for an incredible couple of days, in particular my Gs Maryam Pasha, Ian Low, Jonathan Mallow, David Biello, and Suzi. 🎧 🤔 All these insights and ideas will be shared weekly on the TEDxLondon #ClimateCuriousPod! Be sure to subscribe to catch our episodes as they release, featuring Jenny Chase, Joshua Amponsem, Dana R. Fisher, Vidhya Ramalingam, and more! 🔗🍿Just search ✨'Climate Curious'✨ wherever you get your podcasts. #tedcountdown #climateaction #climatecommunity #climatestorytelling #climatewisdom TED Conferences

“I traded my duties for belonging to myself, for this wolf, wild heart was never made to surrender” – An Interlude with Artemis by Nikita Gill Reimagining ancient myths and archetypes, poet Nikita brings some of literature’s most maligned or underwritten female characters out of the shadows. Why is the UK government refusing to defend the UK’s biggest undeveloped oilfield? Stop Rosebank campaigner, Lauren MacDonald, joined #ClimateCuriousPod to discuss the upcoming court case against the approval of the Rosebank oilfield. Why does this matter so much? “Rosebank is the UK’s biggest undeveloped oilfield. If the oil and gas in this field were burned, it would create more CO2 emissions than the 28 lowest countries produced in a year combined.” Uplift and Greenpeace are bringing the legal battle to stop this oilfield. The good news, Lauren tells us is, “we have really strong grounds to believe that we will win. We hope that this case will set a precedent and be another nail in the coffin of the fossil fuel industry”. You can be part of the movement for a cleaner, fairer future. Visit stoprosebank.org.uk to add your name in support. 🎧 🌍 https://lnkd.in/e8Je8p-J #oil #gas #stoprosebank #stopcambo #fossilfuel #climate #climateaction #climatechange #TED #TEDx

“The resilience is part of their daily lives,” explains Pacific Islander and communications expert Mereseini Tuivuniwai on #ClimateCuriousPod, “What I’ve seen are very resilient people who are not only surviving by thriving in this region for thousands of years”. Mereseini joins us to share what resilience looks like in Vanuatu – one of the smallest and most remote, but resilient, nations in the world. Together with our team member, Ashleigh Brown, Mereseini talks about the impacts of climate change in the Pacific islands, the importance of authenticity in storytelling, and the resilience of local communities. 🎧 🌍 https://lnkd.in/ef88ucQP This episode is part of our BOSS – Big ocean sustainable states – series. #resilience #climatechange #climatecrisis #tuvalu #pacificislandstates #smallislandnations #islandnations #sealevels #oceanlevels #podcasts #climatecurious #tedxlondon

For the first time in a long time, I was in a room that truly challenged me. It was a room filled with driven, ambitious young people striving to create change in a world that often feels stagnant and resistant to progress. Their energy was contagious, and the ideas explored sparked conversations that pushed the boundaries of my own thinking. This week, I was selected as part of a cohort to attend the TEDxLondon Democracy Bootcamp, hosted at Amnesty International UK I explored storytelling through insights shared by the guru that is Simon Bucknall & networked with boundary-pushers like Payzee Mahmod & Alisha Iyer. More than anything, what I want you to take away from this post is that growth happens when you step outside your norm and surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you. The right environment can ignite your potential and push you toward greater achievements. Watch the space!
