Jordan and Cian Adams, known as the ‘FTD Brothers,’ are taking on an extraordinary challenge this September. They will run the entire length of the UK, from John O’Groats to Lands End, covering 903 miles in 31 days. This journey is to raise awareness and funds for dementia research, a cause deeply personal to them. They’re running to #findacure after both receiving news in 2018 & 2023 that they are carriers of the genetic fault thus, meaning they will 100% inherit symptoms of FTD most likely in their early 40s and tragically lose their lives to the disease at a younger age than most. Meet Jordan and Cian Adams, also known as the ‘FTD Brothers’ 🧠 After their mom’s diagnosis of early-onset dementia in 2010, Jordan, Cian & family cared for her for over six years until she sadly passed away in 2016. After her passing, they learned that each of them had a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty MAPT gene, which causes the type of dementia that has affected not only their mom but also their aunt, nan, and many other relatives. In 2018 and 2023, the siblings decided to undergo genetic testing. Unfortunately, Jordan and Cian discovered that they are carriers of the gene, meaning they will inevitably develop symptoms of FTD, likely in their early 40s, and tragically lose their lives to the disease at a younger age than most. Since their diagnosis, they have embarked on a mission to create their own legacy and make a difference. They’ve been raising funds and awareness through various running challenges to support groundbreaking research in the hope of finding a cure for dementia. So far this year, the brothers have completed the London Marathon and run 100 miles in 24 hours. In September, they will take on a 903-mile, 31-day journey to run the entire length of the UK from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
