About us
Welcome to The Autism Wellbeing Project! Are you an autistic adult or a family member looking for support that actually “gets it?” Are you a professional who wants a support organisation to signpost people to that genuinely supports autistic people. Do you want training that is written and delivered by autistic people? Look no further! We're autism-led and autism-informed, here to make a difference and shake things up a bit! We’ve heard the horror stories. We’ve listened to the frustrations. We are experts by experience. We want to get it right and we really care about making things as easy and as supportive as possible. We know every autistic person is different and we know that autistic adults need something just for them! 🌈 Founded on the principles of inclusivity, integrity, understanding, and empowerment, we're not just another support organisation – we're a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) driven by passion and experience. Here's what we offer: 🤝 Autistic-Led Support: Our team consists of amazing staff who understand either through their own experience, or through the experiences of being carers and supporters to autistic loved ones. We have a team of autistic experts by experience who inform and guide everything we do. 🌟 Holistic Approach: We know how hard it can be when you are passed from service to service, having to access new places and meet new people and repeatedly needing to tell your story to people. Our model changes that. We have combined the three sides of the “Health Triangle” to support all parts of what makes people “well” We look at mental health, physical health and social health in a relaxed and friendly environment. From autism specialist personal assistants and mentors to therapy and social activities- we’ve got things covered! 🎯 Mission: Our mission is simple yet powerful – to empower and support autistic individuals to lead fulfilling lives and reach their full potential- whatever that looks like for them.

Our phones can get a bit of a bad rap these days, but there are some real positives to having access to a smartphone. There are so many apps that can be used to help with daily life- this website shares a few ideas; https://lnkd.in/e7XF87Np Are there any apps you would add to this list?

So pleased to have received a significant grant to continue our cafe meets for another year, run arts and crafts groups and wellbeing walks. All these activities aim to improve the wellbeing of autistic adults in our local area and beyond!
📢 Exciting funding news! Thanks to #NationalLottery players, we've awarded over £203 million in vital funding to almost 4,000 community groups across England in the last quarter! From Cornwall to Newcastle, Dover to Carlisle, our funding has supported millions to strengthen society and improve the lives of people in all corners of the country. Find out how National Lottery funding is being used by communities to shape their future. ⬇️ https://ow.ly/M0AH50SBAUF

Today M turned up to our Cafe Social with a cake and a candle. We weren’t sure what she was celebrating but when we found out we all had to go outside to join her (she didn’t like our singing much!) M was celebrating two years since she was last sectioned. Two years of hard work in therapy, engaging with her PA support (even on days she wants to push everyone away) and making LOADS of new friends at our activities.

We love delivering training and one of the most rewarding sessions we do is about autism in the workplace. You may think you don't have any autistic people in your workplace, but you probably do! They're probably masking and hiding what they need to feel comfortable and thrive! If you would like to know more about our training then please get in touch. It's an absolute bargain and all of the profits go into providing our free activities for our community. Have a read about this person's experiences; https://lnkd.in/dR24R_wp
