A couple of weeks ago, I produced and hosted a webinar about the UK's new AVEC and Super AVEC tax credits for my client, Film London. To chew over those new and competitive tax credits and how they can work for you were Adrian Wootton OBE (Film London), Anna Mansi (British Film Institute (BFI), Stephen Joberns (Shipleys LLP) and Sam Tatton-Brown (Lee & Thompson LLP. If you weren't able to join, it's now available online https://lnkd.in/eTSDik9Q

Goodbye to the The Children's Media Conference for another year, and thank you for a truly wonderfully enlightening three days! I learned about creative uses for AI, saw some puppets shoot their shot, met a man draped in beach plastic, caught up with old comedy pals, saw two fantastic saxophonists (one of whom is also a very well-known young drummer!), met ambassadors from the world's first Children's Capital of Culture, and thanks to the small plastic bag my hoover instructions came in, I was able to keep my recyclable name lanyard dry in this unseasonable (seasonable?) weather. ☔ Somehow in only three jam-packed days, I had amazing conversations, witnessed an intense rap battle over nursery rhymes, attended inspiring keynotes, saw the best karaoke I’ve ever experienced (and I say that every year...), and definitely smiled as much as a kid. And somehow #tcmc even arranged for the England men’s team to make it to the finals of the euros without having to go to penalties! I met old friends and new ones, caught up with some beautiful finished projects that were only ideas a few short years ago, and had some new ideas and collaboration conversations of my own. 😀😀😀 Thank you as ever to Greg Childs Kathy Loizou and the team for putting together the friendliest conference in the world… ten minutes from my house! Can’t wait til everyone comes back to Sheffield next year! ❤️❤️❤️ Sue Nott Tiernan Douieb Bec Hill Matthew Winning Davey Moore YolanDa Brown OBE DL Katie Davies David Kleeman Anna Berrington Fiona McLean Ellen Evans Jen Welsby Patrick Jackson Adam Ingle Nikki Stearman Emma Cooper jackie edwards Nigel Twumasi Sarah Legg-Barratt

At the beginning of 2024, almost two years back from mat leave and coming up to my fifteenth anniversary working in Animation, I set myself the goal of focusing on some self- development and looking past my wfh computer screen. I've since been honoured and privileged to take part in not one but two enriching programmes: The WIA Spring Mentorship Circle on Creative Leadership with the brilliantly strategic Anna Yoon and the ScreenSkills x Indielab course on Creative Directing for Animation with 'Industry Veteran' Tim Searle. The cherry on the cake has been attending my first The Children's Media Conference as a volunteer producer this week, where I've loved learning about the sector at large, getting out of my bubble and meeting some lovely people. Not sure what to do with the rest of the year now.

This panel was a highlight of a great The Children's Media Conference for me, with invaluable insight from all the panelists. Everyone involved managed to make the head-melt of international co-productions comprehensible (and dare I say it, even fun? :)) A key takeaway - consult the experts on your co-production journey! #cmc
So enjoyed moderating our live simulation of a co-production journey at The Children's Media Conference this week in Sheffield. Kudos to our production team Justine Bannister, Alison Warner and Elizabeth Wilson and huge thanks to our brilliant panelists Patricia Hidalgo Reina, Adriano Schmid, Philippe Alessandri, Agnes Augustin and Katharina Pietzsch for helping us navigate what is always a complex set of options!

Our Creative Director / Co-CEO John O'Shea had the pleasure of Chairing the “When Gaming Meets TV” panel as part of The Children's Media Conference at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema. The panel discussed the viewing habits of children watching gamers play videogames on popular channels such as YouTube and Twitch and whether the platform they view it on matters. Speakers Lisa Carol Mackintosh (Sky Kids), Bronagh Monahan (MonRae), Theo Thomas aka BlackPanthaa (esports and racing YouTuber) and Phil Stuart (Preloaded) provided a fascinating insight into what makes a gamer into a YouTube star, why kids watch other people playing games and discussed potential safeguarding issues around viewing content. Lisa discussed the curation and care that goes into Sky Kid’s fantastic “Let’s Game” series, with Theo and Bronagh providing further perspectives on the talent and creative process behind the format. Phil outlined ways in which a collaboration between Lego and the makers of Fortnite (Epic) points the way towards more hybrid overlaps and cross pollination, not just of IP, but of values and kinds of worldbuilding. The discussion continued with how more publishers and broadcasters can work together to tap into shared audiences, while deliberating what the potential future holds for content creators and platforms. John O’Shea: “This was a fascinating panel to be part of from the perspective of the museum, because videogames culture is so much broader than simply the games themselves, but actually encompasses a whole landscape of media, technology and storytelling. It was terrific to hear perspectives of those actually involved in streaming, and to think about the creativity of gamers themselves - building communities and bringing to life worlds inside platforms like Minecraft and Roblox.” Thanks to Panel Producer, Adam Carter, Exec. Producer Emma Cooper and Greg Childs OBE for creating the space for this important conversation to happen. We look forward to collaborating further with The Children’s Media Conference in the future! 📷 credit: Trevor Klein

NTM’s Phil Adie and Andy Allen have been in Sheffield this week attending the amazing The Children's Media Conference. It has been a thrilling few days of informative talks, commissioner panels, industry Q&A’s, production company meetings and catching up with our friends and fellow attendees. We always love our time at CMC and this year really was special as it was our assistant Andy’s first media conference with Nick Turner Management. He’s been particularly buzzed about finally being able to meet all of the people he’s been emailing (“Hello everyone! You were all so lovely!! Can’t wait to catch up with everyone soon.” - Andy). It’s been great to see so many people and update them on what our fantastic writers and directors have been working on and the many exciting things they have coming up. A huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes making sure everything ran smoothly and to everyone working in the Showroom Cinema & Café and The University of Sheffield. If we didn’t manage to meet you during out time at #CMC24, a full list of our clients can be found on our website here: https://lnkd.in/de4CBaHc And if you have any specific projects or clients you would like to discuss further with us, we’d love to hear from you!
