Corby's dedicated arts venue

About us

The Core at Corby Cube is a registered charity and we have recently celebrated our 7th Birthday. In this time we have welcomed more than 300,000 audience members and participants to our town centre venue, and made a local economic impact of £16.8 million. The Core at Corby Cube consists of three spaces. The Theatre seats 445 people on three levels- the main live programme takes place here with professional visiting companies, local amateur groups, schools and community organisations all regularly performing on the stage. We present music, comedy, dance, theatre and family shows and have recently seen visits from Sarah Millican, Northern Ballet Theatre, Rich Hall and The Searchers, to name a few. The Lab is a studio space suitable for smaller-scale shows and family activities. The Base is an underground workshop space which doubles as a training room, conference space and recording studio. The Core continues to place huge importance on Creative Projects activity which reaches a diverse and broad range of our community, with a particularly strong focus on children, young people and families. We continue to build a national reputation for the innovation in our approach and commitment to ensuring that young people from all backgrounds can access our high quality programme. We offer free and subsidised places for all our Creative Project activities.

Updates

  • It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend and long standing trustee of The Core at Corby Cube, Alec McPhedran who passed away on the 29th January. Alec was a champion for the arts in Northamptonshire and supported a number of boards including our own since 2021. His insight and guidance will be missed by all and our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this sad time.

On behalf of Alec’s family, it is with deep sadness that we share the news that he passed away on Wednesday 29 January. A son, brother, husband, dad, and his proudest role of all, ‘Bumps’, Alec will be missed by many but his memory will live on forever. Whilst we navigate this empty void, please raise a glass to the man whose sense of humour was sometimes questionable, but most importantly, never took his life for granted. Funeral details to follow once finalised. In the words of Alec himself, take it easy. Christine, Craig and Katy x

  • We were delighted to welcome Rachel McGrath, Northamptonshire Community Foundation's (NCF) Chief Executive, to The Core this afternoon to chat to our Director Joe about Make A Memory. NCF have been proud supporters of our annual Make A Memory appeal for many years, and their generosity has helped us to provide free theatre tickets to over 400 children and families who otherwise wouldn't be in a position to enjoy this experience. We are so grateful to NCF for pledging £1250 to our Big Give #christmaschallenge, which, with match funding from The Reed Foundation, will DOUBLE any donations we receive via biggive.org until Tue 10 December. Watch the video to hear Joe and Rachel explaining why this is so important for our local community. • We’re excited to announce that Tollers are getting behind our festive pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, by becoming our headline sponsor! No stranger to supporting the arts in our community, Tollers previously sponsored Trainspotting Live here at The Core, and we’re thrilled to extend this partnership. As part of their support, Tollers are making a direct contribution to our Make A Memory campaign, our annual fundraising initiative that spreads Christmas cheer to families facing financial challenges by providing free tickets through local charities and community organisations. We are truly grateful to Tollers for their generosity, which will bring the magic of theatre to many families this holiday season! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ektyVkrZ

I’ve swapped my desk chair for a very different one today! This summer, the team at The Core at Corby Cube have been cycling to raise money, all with the purpose of helping us continue to make the arts accessible to all in our local community, especially children and families. Our aim is to reach 365 miles, and we’re currently on 273.5, so we are in the final stretch! Cycling is definite not my strength, so it’s already feeling like a challenge… So if you’d like to keep me motivated, I’d be super grateful if you’d consider making a donation: https://lnkd.in/eET-XfjU
