It was a pleasure to host Sir Charlie Mayfield and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) team this week at our Sheffield Kelham Island gym, to support with the Keep Britain Working Independent Review. As part of the Government’s Get Britain Working Plan to tackle economic inactivity and support people into good work, Keep Britain Working will focus on how the role of UK employers can better recruit and retain employees with health conditions, mobility issues, or disabilities and to promote healthy and inclusive workplaces. Catherine Ferma, our Operations Director and Jennagh Delaney-Harding, our Senior Talent Acquisition & ER Manager, spoke about how EDI is embedded into our recruitment strategies, and demonstrated by key initiatives such as our Inclusive Traineeship and Accelerate PT programmes. 📢  Today we were pleased to share a Pre-close trading update, ahead of our full year 2024 results on 12th March, announcing continued positive trading momentum and increased membership figures. 📈 Highlights from the announcement include: - We increased revenue by 11% versus 2023 - We closed the year with 891,000 members, an increase of 5% year on year - We opened 12 new sites in 2024, meeting the top end of our 10-12 target; this takes our total estate to 245 gyms nationwide with plans to open 14-16 in 2025 and on track to open c.50 gyms by 2026 💬 Our CEO Will Orr said: “We have delivered strong progress and momentum in our Next Chapter growth plan, with plenty more still to come, and we look to 2025 with confidence. We are well prepared for our key member recruitment period in the current quarter and beyond, with our strengthening new site pipeline and our flexible, high value, low cost offer making gym membership more accessible for all.” ⭐ A big thank you to our brilliant teams across the business for your hard work in delivering these results. 💻 Read more here https://lnkd.in/e3KtiSq4

🎉 We did it! Thanks to our members and gym teams, we've smashed our 2024 fundraising target and raised over £100,000 for our charity partner, NHS Charities Together 💙. We have now also paired all of our gyms with a local NHS charity, to support with fundraising and volunteering opportunities in the communities we operate in. 🫶 From hosting The Gym Group Games across the country to spinathons and more, it's been a TGG team effort. A special mention to our brilliant top fundraising gyms Handforth, Plymouth, Wakefield, Liverpool Great Homer Street and South Shields! 💙 NHS Charities Together provide the extra support that’s needed to care for staff, patients and improve health in our communities. ⭐ The Gym Group Be Your Personal Best Conference 2024 ⭐ 📣 Last week, we hosted our annual TGG Conference in London where team members from across the country, from Gym Operations to Gym Support, came together to celebrate success so far this year and look ahead to growth plans for 2025. 🏆 After an insightful day of presentations from TGG teams across the business and our CEO Will Orr, we held our annual awards ceremony to recognise teams and individuals who have gone the extra mile to deliver their personal best and a top experience for our members. Another big congratulations to our award winners Anita Varga, Dale Crawford, Jack Birmingham, Jack W., Tom Warren, Ross Eldergill & Jennifer Tardiff and our Gym Team of the Year, Uxbridge.   ⛷️We finished the day with a well-deserved ‘Apres-G’ style celebration where there were lots of impressive outfits on show! We are proud to be sector leaders for health and safety excellence. Congratulations to Joey F., and the The Gym Group's Health and Safety team for delivering this milestone achievement, only a year after achieving UKAS accredited certification for the international standard for health and safety management systems, ISO 45001:2018. The FITcert® scheme is led by EuropeActive and the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute (NEN) and is the first, recognised, sector-certification programme for Europe. Kai Troll, CEO of EuropeActive said: “We are delighted to acknowledge The Gym Group's achievement of full certification at Level 4 of the FITcert® scheme. FITcert® sets the highest quality benchmark across Europe for standards in safety and health in our industry."
