In Bloom presents 'Everybody's Fight': An In Bloom Series on Reproductive Freedom. We are proud to announce the release of Everybody's Fight: An In Bloom Series on Reproductive Freedom, available now on YouTube. Amidst constant threats to reproductive rights, Everybody's Fight draws on the experiences of people seeking reproductive care, healthcare providers, and abortion rights advocates who navigate a complex and dangerous post-Roe reality. More than 25 million women and girls of reproductive age now live in states where abortion is restricted, endangering their health and limiting their economic opportunities. This film series blends narrative stories with real-life accounts, highlighting those most impacted by reproductive freedom restrictions and those chronicling the fight on the frontlines. Executive Producers Phoebe Gates and Karlie Kloss supported these films, alongside MTV Staying Alive Foundation, with the goal of sparking crucial conversations and encouraging young audiences to take action for the change they wish to see. The project is further strengthened by Jessica Valenti, feminist author and advocate, and Kwajelyn Jackson, Executive Director of Feminist Women’s Health Center, who bring their deep expertise in reproductive rights and social justice to the series as producers. Watch documentaries 'Do No Harm', directed by Tracy Droz Tragos and 'Choices', directed by Raesham Nijhon, produced by Culture House. And short film, 'This is What We're Taking?' written and directed by Jessica Mendez Sequeiros, starring Isabella Star LeBlanc, Germain Arroyo, and Morningstar Angeline with technical support from Indigenous Women Rising and advisors IllumiNative and Abortion on Our Own Terms. We’re super excited to share that three of our campaigns have been shortlisted as finalists at the 9th Annual #ShortyAwards for Impact! These three campaigns are In Bloom, MTV Shuga: Fairy Prep Mother, and MTV Nishedh: Kuch Aisa Waisa/ The Protection Song.🎉👏 In Bloom is an anthology series of 5 multi-genre short films created by 5 female filmmakers, each from the United States, India, Brazil, Kenya, and Nigeria. The series uses immersive, female-led storytelling to raise awareness and spark new perspectives on structural injustices and social norms that perpetuate gender inequality. Vote for In Bloom here 👉🏽: https://bit.ly/4ha3tb3 The Fairy PrEP Mother PSA was created in response to the high rates of HIV in South Africa and the need to generate awareness of Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) a medicine, widely available in South Africa, which reduces your risk of getting HIV to almost zero. With sufficient awareness and uptake, PrEP could prevent thousands of new infections every year. Vote for Fairy Prep Mother here 👉🏽: https://bit.ly/3YvMZTt As a part of its wider youth-centric campaign, MTV Nishedh, through Kuch Aisa Waisa - ("Somewhere something like that " or contextually "The Protection Song"), sought to drive conversations around condoms and contraceptives among Indian youth. In the context of myths, insufficient knowledge, and inadequate messages, young people can make ill-informed choices, resulting in unprotected sex, unplanned pregnancies, and STIs. Vote for Kuch Aisa Waisa here 👉🏽: https://bit.ly/3A5l1Ey As finalists, we can win the Audience Honor, which depends on your vote. Help us spread the word and vote for our campaigns before October 30th to let even more people know about our innovative and impactful work! #shortyimpact #impactawardsfinalist #positiveimpact #MTVStayingAlive #MTVSAF

MTV Staying Alive Foundation Joins Forces with Karlie Kloss and Phoebe Gates to Announce Film Series on Reproductive Freedom The MTV Staying Alive Foundation and the Gateway Coalition today debuted a new film series on reproductive freedom, telling untold stories of the many devastating ways that the end of the federal right to abortion has impacted the lives of people across the United States. More than 25 million women and girls of reproductive age now live in states where abortion is restricted, endangering their health and limiting their economic opportunities. Amidst constant threats to reproductive rights, 'Everybody's Fight: An In Bloom Series' draws on the experiences of people seeking reproductive care, frontline providers, and abortion rights advocates who navigate a complex and dangerous reality. Executive Producers Phoebe Gates and Karlie Kloss are supporting the films and using their platforms to spark crucial conversations, encouraging young audiences to take action for the change they wish to see. The limited series blends narrative stories with real-life accounts, highlighting both those most impacted by reproductive freedom restrictions and those chronicling the fight on the frontlines. The series will be available on YouTube on October 22nd on the In Bloom YouTube channel and will be featured on Paramount+ as well as other Paramount linear channels early next year. It will also be offered cost-free to advocacy and grassroots organizations dedicated to reproductive freedom. Campaign partners will incorporate the films into their community engagement efforts through screenings at local events and on college campuses. The series will comprise 3 documentaries and 2 narrative short films. The documentaries are produced by Emmy-nominated Culture House, a Black, Brown, and women-owned media company known for celebrated series including Black Twitter,. Raeshem Nijhon, Carri Twigg and Nicole Galovski serve as Executive Producers. The project is further strengthened by Jessica Valenti, feminist author and advocate, and Kwajelyn Jackson, Executive Director of Feminist Women’s Health Center, who bring their deep expertise in reproductive rights and social justice to the series as producers. The narrative films are produced by Pulse Films known for acclaimed works including Gangs of London and American Honey. The first film, ‘THIS IS WHAT WE’RE TAKING,’ was written and directed by Jessica Mendez Siqueiros and stars Isabella Star LeBlanc, Germain Arroyo, and Morningstar Angeline. The film grapples with the lack of access to reproductive care faced by indigenous communities, and the fight to restore power and agency over their bodies. The second film, currently in production, is written and directed by Nijla Mu'min and explores the intersectionality of medical bias, black maternal mortality, and the barriers to reproductive freedom that disproportionately impact Black women. https://lnkd.in/dsHRYZzH

Today, we're launching a landmark youth-led mass media programme across Kenya! Developed in collaboration with Shujaaz Inc, the campaign is a new partnership to tackle restrictive and harmful gender norms. "Surround Sound Kenya: Changing the Gender Story Together" is an ambitious 5-year project supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Co-Impact, Echidna Giving and Imaginable Futures; to reach young people in Kenya – including those who are hardest to reach - with authentic, creative and immersive media that is co-created and locally led. Reaching both boys and girls – including those hardest to reach - the distinct content from each of the partner organizations and messages will be complementary and mutually reinforcing delivered through a range of touchpoints. Having amassed decades of evidence between both organizations that authentic youth-led media can help shift restrictive norms at scale, we are determined to unlock the life-changing power of media in Kenya to change the gender story and enable young people to feel free to make different choices; about their bodies, their relationships, their education, the work they do – and the lives they want. We are pleased to announce the publication of our impact paper on the MTV Shuga Naija campaign in Nigeria, titled: “You Need to be Able to Stand Up for What is Right”: MTV Shuga Naija’s Transformative Impact on Youth Attitudes Toward Sexual Violence in Nigeria”. In Nigeria, approximately 10% of women of reproductive age report experiencing sexual violence in the past year, with potentially enduring health and social consequences. The effects can be especially severe for younger women and adolescents. MTV Shuga Naija utilizes an entertainment-education TV serial drama to promote gender equality and challenge norms around sexual violence. Read more here 👉: https://bit.ly/3X1FouQ
