Why market research is like a frog in boiling water? 🐸🔥💧 The dangers of ignoring change A big thank you to everyone at #MRMW for the great discussions! It was an honor to deliver the keynote and share my take on how spatial computing and AI are rapidly reshaping our insights industry. The metaphor of the frog in boiling water illustrates the gradual risks we face if we continue to ignore these changes. We could be heading towards a future where market research becomes invisible for consumers, #5G-powered AR glasses might help collect real-time data seamlessly—no surveys or interviews needed. But as technology automates data collection, human researchers will remain crucial—not for routine tasks, but for unpacking cultural nuances and contextual insights that AI struggles to grasp. Culture, emotion, and context require a human touch to turn into actionable insights. Concerns about AI replacing our roles often reflect our resistance to change more than the technology’s actual capabilities. As I said in the keynote, “Market research is like a frog sitting in boiling water, risking being boiled alive.” 🐸🔥 The water is heating up; we must jump out and embrace change. The harder path—upskilling and leading the transformation—is the necessary one.
