Changing harmful relationships for positive futures Our Vision: Lives free from domestic abuse.
About us
We protect victims by educating perpetrators (people who use abuse) to bring about behaviour change and to help people understand what domestic abuse is so that we reduce domestic abuse and the effect it has in the community. At The Change Project, we offer a range of Domestic Abuse interventions that are matched to the individual’s circumstances and level of risk Across Essex, Norfolk and elsewhere in the South East on England and East Anglia. (Ex)partners can access our in-house Integrated Support Service to ensure that victims/survivors are supported throughout our perpetrator interventions. We also offer advice and can signpost clients to other agencies that may be able to provide additional support to make positive changes in their lives. We deliver training programmes to professionals across multi-disciplinary groups and to individual organisations which support working with those impacted by domestic abuse in the professional setting. We provide a wide range of counselling services which can be tailored to specific needs. These include child focussed counselling, play therapy, young people’s counselling, family counselling, couples counselling, psychosexual therapy and individual therapy.

The Change Project is very grateful for the funding from the High Sheriffs Awards (Essex Community Foundation). This has enabled the ‘Youth Action for Change’ initiative. This support has been pivotal in delivering our Healthy Relationships and Consent Programme which equips young people with the critical skills needed to recognise and challenge abusive and misogynist behaviours. #HighSheriffofEssex #YouthActionforChange #HealthyRelationships #Consent #youngpeople #schoolrefusal #schoolanxiety #youthmentalhealth #mentalhealth #anxiety #depression #TheChangeProject

Some of our staff have been celebrating International Women's Day 2025 today. Our Thurrock Domestic Violence Awareness Practitioner, Lynn Black, met some truly inspirational people. Councillor Qaisar Abbas thanked The Change Project for all of the work we have done in Thurrock. Another great event with great people. The Ukrainian and Central Asian Cultural dancers were amazing as was the artwork on display. This was great work by the children who are supported by the Best British Centre.
