This morning we were pleased to welcome Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer to The King's Fund Annual conference. In his first health and care speech since starting in office, he offered his reflections on the Darzi review and outlined how his government plans to respond the stark challenges facing the sector. In her response to the speech, Sarah Woolnough said: 'Although the Prime Minister presented a starkly honest assessment of the state of health and care in England, both patients and those working in health and care services will take some hope from the Prime Minister’s promise of bold action.' 🆕 Specialty and specialist (SAS) and locally employed (LE) doctors make up a significant percentage of the NHS workforce yet are often underappreciated within the health care system. In this long read, we explore why doctors choose SAS and LE roles, the complexities of their career development, and the need for greater recognition and support from the system. The long read provides reflections on how these experiences highlight broader systemic issues within the NHS, including racism, discrimination and bullying. https://lnkd.in/e64Kmvcm

The government has just launched Change NHS, ‘the biggest ever conversation about the future of the NHS’. In his new blog, Dan Wellings outlines five key elements to a successful process: ▶️ It does not limit itself to what the system wants to hear. ▶️ There is equality of voice. ▶️ It achieves the right balance between local and national. ▶️ It is clear how decisions are made based on what has been learnt. ▶️ It drives a cultural change
