About us

ThermaMech is one of the UK’s fastest growing businesses within the District Heating Installation market, currently employing around 30 people in the UK. We design and build District Heating Systems and Energy Centres in London and across the country. A District Heat Scheme supplies residential and commercial customers with hot water and heat produced at a local Energy Centre and distributed via a District Heat Network. We produce fully integrated, turnkey solutions using technologies like combined heat and power (CHP) and heat pumps. Our sustainable energy sources are built as efficiently as the energy they produce; that’s why we call ourselves your efficiency experts. In the race towards Net Zero, actions speak louder than words. District Heating Systems are pivotal in the journey towards decarbonising the heating sector and hitting the Net Zero Emissions target by 2050.

Updates

  • Over the past three months, Thermamech has worked with Stoke-on-Trent City Council and their district heating delivery partner, SSE Energy Solutions, to design, install, and commission an Interim Energy Centre to supply heat to Goods Yard development. One of the key new connections of the wider district heat network currently being developed, Goods Yard will provide 174 rental homes and 30,000 sq. ft. of workspace, transforming the area between Stoke-on-Trent train station and the Trent & Mersey Canal into a thriving destination for residents, businesses, and visitors. A fantastic achievement for all involved and an important part of the future decarbonisation of Stoke! #DistrictHeating #HeatNetworks #UKEnergy

  • Our Delivery Director, Paul Lewis, joined our partners at Eagle Plant Hire to deliver an update at their annual Shareholders' Meeting last week. And while he was there he got some great snaps of our co-branded plant that's being used across our projects. We thoroughly value the relationships we have with our suppliers and partners. Without the right kit, we wouldn't be able to deliver our work on the UK's district heating networks, but it's especially great to work with partners with the same aim and ethos in business as us - to deliver a great job.  #PlantMachinery #UKConstruction #DistrictHeating #UKEnergy

  • Today ThermaMech exhibited at the South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair alongside 35 other employers. We spoke to young people about our Early Careers Programme and the opportunities that exist within the District Heating industry. It was great to hear from Bristol's workforce of the future and to share our insight into the rewarding work that's taking place across the UK's green energy sector. Here's a great snap of ThermaMech's Frazer Clarke manning the stand! Huge thanks to City of Bristol College, Bristol City Council and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for arranging the event. If you'd like to find out more about our apprenticeships, register your interest in our careers programme, or to find out about opportunities in the future, visit thermamech.com/careers.

We like introducing our wider network to the various members of our team – both old and new. Next up is our Financial Director, Alex Sargeant. A Chartered Accountant with a background in corporate finance, Alex joined ThermaMech around 18 months ago – and in that time he’s become a key part of the leadership team. Speaking of his role, Alex said: “Going from an advisory role to in-house has been brilliant – that singular focus you can have with one company is a bit of a different discipline but really rewarding. ThermaMech operates in an exciting sector, one with ever-increasing opportunities as the district heating market grows, thanks to several factors including the anticipated introduction of Heat Network Zoning legislation, later this year. We’re a relatively small team, but a great one and it’s been amazing seeing us grow from strength to strength this last year or so.” Outside of work, Alex is a golf fanatic, skiing enthusiast, and wine aficionado – three things he does a lot less of since the arrival of his twin boys last year – but he’s slowly chipping away at playing each of the top 100 British golf courses. Thanks for the great work Alex! #districtheating #heatnetworks #teampost #UKEnergy

  • "Heat Networks are one of the key things we need to be developing in order to hit that net zero target." - wise words from Vattenfall's Jon Sankey in relation to the brilliant work Vattenfall and its partners (including ThermaMech) are carrying out here in Bristol. • A few months ago we welcomed Agnes Lisowska to support our Accounts team, as Accounts Payable Administrator. And safe to say Agnes has fitted right in! Agnes brings years of financial experience to the team, joining us from the property sector where she's been for the last eight years. Outside of work, Agnes is another fitness boffin (we have a few) who spends her time keeping active. Volleyball, Basketball, Padel, Crossfit, Pilates - just a few of Agnes' hobbies. Reading, travelling, and searching for great culinary experiences are also high on Agnes' list for her leisure time. Speaking on her experience as part of the team so far, Agnes said: "My time with ThermaMech so far has been brilliant. As well as my day to day work, i'm enjoying contributing to the efficiency of the accounts function, in the form of looking at our processes. My role also gives me an interesting overview of the projects we're working on across the UK and their progress. The other thing I particularly enjoy - competing in the office contest on the New York Times Wordle!" #TeamNews #TeamAppreciation #UKEnergy

  • In this new year, ThermaMech is continuing its commitment to enabling green workforces of the future; those that will drive a greener future for all. The LinkedIn Green Skills Report, published at the end of last year, highlighted a few startling statistics: - The global demand for green talent has surged, with a 5.9% average annual increase between 2021 and 2024. - The UK leads with the highest demand for green skills, with an increase of 13% in that same time period. - Supply has grown - but it's behind demand. Global growth in green skills, in the same time period, reached 3.2%, with the UK being highlighted as having one of the largest gaps. Across our work with the UK's energy industry, we're fostering new talent through apprenticeships, partnerships with colleges and further education, and developing our teams to meet future needs and demands of the district heating industry. And we're fortunate to work with partners who do precisely the same. The report itself is a useful read for those wanting to better understand the action required to meet future targets. • As our team wrap up for the Christmas break - we'd like to thank all our partners for their support of, and contributions to, another successful year at ThermaMech. Looking forward to next year, we've set ourselves some ambitious targets. In 2025 we hope to deliver: - over 10km of distributed network, - 50 MW of produced heat, and, - the interface for over 100 customer connections. Through these efforts we'll support the UK's transition to a cleaner, low carbon future. Our office will close on Monday 23rd December and reopen on Thursday 2nd January. Merry Christmas everyone! #UKEnergy #DistrictHeating #HeatNetworks
