New Article: An interview with Matt Burns, Thirst ECD and Co-founder with Forbes - How young consumers are changing the marketing of luxury beverage brands. Young consumers, particularly Millennials and Gen Z, are reshaping the marketing of luxury beverages. Moving from "conspicuous to conscientious" consumption, they value sustainability, authenticity, and exclusive experiences over traditional opulence. Brands must adapt by innovating in design, emphasizing eco-friendly practices, and creating meaningful experiences. While scarcity still drives desire, modern exclusivity is tied to knowledge and ethical values. This shift demands a fresh approach to luxury, blending creativity with purpose. New Thirst Shots - Unbridiling Bourbon for a New Era For centuries, #bourbon has been celebrated as the quintessential American spirit. And while its rich history has always driven relevance, we're beginning to see how an over-reliance on one-dimensional category stories can limit its potential. In the latest edition of Thirst Shots, we uncover 3 distinct opportunities for Bourbon brands to bring fresh perspectives to centuries-old customs, without losing credibility. hashtag - The near-universal use of Americana as a foundation for the bourbon category has blurred brand lines, creating a homogenous world of bourbon. In a category saturated with compelling stories and high-quality liquids, brands will need to reconsider their innovations, brand identities, and consumer interactions to achieve substantial differentiation. How might you disrupt bourbon's traditional tropes to differentiate your brand and captivate a new generation of consumers? - Given a fundamental shift in how consumers expect to be met, bourbon's traditional emphasis on process and provenance risks losing its allure. To stay relevant, bourbon brands must consider how they engage consumers in ways that transcend their products. How can we transition from storytellers to architects of the next generation of novel, memorable experiences? - The last decade has seen an exorbitant increase in more diverse American whiskey consumers, as well as a larger on-trade presence. With a changing demographic and more frequent consumer interactions, there is opportunity to explore new avenues for recruitment and consumption. How can we abandon outdated whiskey tropes and invite consumers to explore new bourbon occasions and serves? NEW WORK 🇭🇷 Tasked by Stock Spirits Group to create a new-to-world brand in the Croatian Pelinkovac category, dusting off the nation’s beloved bitters, to disrupt and create fresh relevance. The challenge was to attract a new generation of drinkers, open up the drinking occasion, and drive reappraisal of the category. Introducing Pelinova... Inspired by Croatia’s melting pot of influences, we created the brand platform ‘ignite unexpected connections’. This informed everything from the name to the liquid and entire VBI, with the ambition to create a world brimming with the bustling, sun-soaked terrace drinking culture of Croatia’s youth. Our name Pelinova is a play on the word novi meaning ‘new’ in Croatian and the liquid was given a hint of citrus to appeal to the palette of our target market. 🔗 Find out more about the project here: https://tr.ee/skAOTuC4MU #innovation #BrandStrategy #CreativePartner #Pelinova
