Accomplished leaders are compelling and persuasive storytellers. Given the challenges they face and the scale of their companies, they have to be. To get their message across in briefings, meetings, presentations and personal conversations, successful leaders draw from a personal reserve of powerful stories that answer questions like, 'Where are we going?', 'Why does it matter?', 'How do you see the future?', 'What are our priorities?' and, 'How do I fit in?' If you aspire to leadership, storytelling will set you apart. This new service, Leadership - A Story to Live By, shows you how to build your own reserve of leadership stories. Based on the seven stories great leaders tell, it is customised for your company, and personalised for you and the leadership moments where you expect to use it. Leadership - A Story to Live By is explained in the document attached. If it appeals to you personally, or resonates with your view of effective leadership, please get in touch.

Storytelling sets leaders apart: What's Your Story gives you the skills to be more engaging, eloquent and persuasive.
About us
Successful leaders are gifted speakers - they inspire us when they talk. To call it storytelling doesn't seem fair. It's so much more than that. In the hurly-burly of corporate life, they cut to the chase with laser-like accuracy, zooming in on the issues that matter most and the points they want to make. These leaders - you may know a few - act like leadership is emotional because they know it is. With sincere empathy for the challenges faced by each of their audiences, they earn support for the fierce and courageous direction they need to take. Change may be planned in the office, but it can only be made in the live action of human relationships. For those conversations, leaders need a story. You need both a coherent business argument and an eloquently moving speech. It has to be both. It's storytelling like this that sets apart the most successful leaders from the rest (McKinsey, 2022). The observation isn't new. Forty years ago, Howard Gardner, said storytelling was the most powerful weapon in a leader's arsenal. For centuries, storytelling has sat at the top of the oral tradition in which cultures, communities and their great achievements have been made. Leadership storytelling is a learnable skill. With a short workshop and a set of practical 'how to' guides, you can elevate the stories you tell to be more engaging, eloquent and persuasive. Contact me via LinkedIn to discuss leadership storytelling for you, your leadership team, and your company's future leaders. As McKinsey say, storytelling sets apart the most successful leaders from the rest.

30 years ago, a colleague said it's good to narrow your focus. 30 years later, I'm pleased to say I have 😀. In 2024, I'm launching two new services - one for leaders and the other for consultants, coaches and facilitators. Both will be focused on the quality and impact of your voice - what you say, how you talk, the conversations you hold, and the stories you tell. It's as close to my purpose as I can get. More than that, it has the potential to make your development more personal, more relevant, and more uplifting than ever.
Whoever we are and whatever we do, our effectiveness rests on what we say, how we talk, the conversations we hold, and the stories we tell.
