We've been working with Domus Solas and Galilaeo Centras in Lithuania for the past 2 years, helping them support an entire school commmunity (children, families and teachers) who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. The Lithuanian team are doing incredible work with the children and their families, but it all takes funds. To support them, TISUK Director Julia Bird will be swimming around Burgh Island (Devon) in September, if you'd like to spur her on with a donation please see her just giving page. Any donation, no matter how small will be gratefully received and will make a real difference by helping to facilitate family workshops, drop in centres and activities for the children... https://lnkd.in/e_ipGY_q...

Too many children and teenagers are held hostage to the fall-out from their ‘un-storied emotions’, namely debilitating mental health issues and behaviours that challenge. In this webinar, Dr Margot Sunderland provides a wealth of tools and techniques to support you to respond therapeutically when a child/teenager tells you a very important story about their life. 'Not only was Josh looking at ways and means to end his own life but he was also provided with tips, encouragement. Nothing was there to push him down a different path. The opportunity I saw was to intervene at that person's most vulnerable point, to say to them 'Think about what you're doing, there is hope, people love you and by the way look at all these amazing 24-hour free mental health resources." ' Alice Hendy, Founder of R;pple On world suicide day we'd like to share about the work of R;pple. Founded by Alice Hendy who sadly lost her brother Josh to suicide in 2020, Alice discovered that leading up to his death, Josh had been looking at harmful content relation to suicide online. We now know that 26% of suicides’ in under 20’s have involved harmful online searches. R;pple is a browser extension that can be downloaded or to individual devices or deployed through wi-fi integration. If someone searches suicide or self harm then R;pple intercepts it and instead gives a message of hope that things can get better and signposts a selcetion of Mental Health Resources. This is a great tool for parents, schools and organisations working with young people https://ow.ly/10y850TjM1X
