On #WorldFoodDay, we’re looking through an old handwritten recipe book we've found in the office - featuring delicious meals all cooked from tree products, and written by the different communities we work with across Africa’s drylands! In the regions where we work, smallholder farmers continue to be impacted by the effects of the climate crisis. Given the opportunity, women living in rural areas in Africa’s #Sahel region and across the world can play a crucial role in protecting and restoring ecosystems 🌿 And yet many don't get the chance as they are often excluded from decision-making both at the community level and internationally. This International Day of Rural Women, we’re highlighting the talent and vital knowledge of rural women across African drylands, who are helping to restore land, advance the rights of women and girls, and build resilience to the effects of the climate crisis. #InternationalDayofRuralWomen #WomensEmpowerment

Visiting the trees at sunset ☀ For #FSCForestWeek, we’re bringing you Damzoussi forest in Burkina Faso, a sustainably and community-managed forest area within our Tond Tenga project. The trees here provide essential sources of food, income and protection from climate change. Ensuring forests are managed sustainably, and by the people who rely on them, is key to preventing #deforestation and protecting forest land for future generations. Grown with hundreds of different native tree species, this thriving ecosystem is a sign of the amazing things that can happen, if you give #nature a chance 🌳

We are proud to have contributed to Terraspect’s whitepaper, From Co-Benefits to Core-Benefits: How to Ensure Carbon Finance is Fairly and Transparently Delivered. It is a comprehensive toolkit on how to ensure that carbon finance delivers its intended benefits to local people who live and rely on the land.
