I was delighted to attend the Farnborough Air Show last week on behalf of partners in both the UK and the US. Some great instances of innovation and collaboration across the few days including great conversations with some of our partners in the US, namely with the World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) – who we helped to support with meetings at the show. Other highlights include speaking with 47G, the US Aerospace & Defence Industry experts, being able to share some insights into future Technologies across the Aerospace & Defence industry in both Utah and the Wider United States. A personal highlight is supporting an extremely exciting and innovative company from Northern Ireland, ubloquity, Digital Asset Identification specialists who are driving innovation across supply chain mapping in various industries. I wanted to reflect on the past week at Farnborough International airshow and share some amazing in- sights. The Aerospace and Defence sector is going through its biggest transformation and the cohort from Aerospace Xelerated are at the pinnacle of that transformation. Along side the global supply chain issues, leading companies like Boeing, Airbus, & Lockheed Martin to name but a few are embracing innovation. - 🚀 https://shorturl.at/MxZja The UK and Northern Ireland has so much to offer thanks to the continued support of the Aerospace Xelerated, Metta and leadership from the Department for Business and Trade. When a little up-start from Northern Ireland, ubloquity gets the opportunity to showcase how we and our partners are supporting frictionless trade, sustainability and asset (Product) authentication across the supply chain, we embrace it. Our community has so much to offer and with a heritage of innovation (Ejector Seat, The Ferguson Tractor to name but a few. Such is the pace of its advancement, Belfast jumped nine places in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index in 2023, and is now the 11th best startup ecosystem in the UK. This has made Belfast an increasingly attractive destination for international entrepreneurs and investors. This is evident in that 2022 was the best year in Belfast’s history for VC funding with businesses in the region raising $93.2M—almost 2.5 times the total raised in 2021. That's a wrap on Day 3 of the Farnborough International Airshow 2024! We thought yesterday was intense - but today ended up being even more action-packed: 💡 Phil Tanthatsawat from Signol kicked us off with a great session on "Unlocking Extra Fuel Savings". 💡 Next we heard from some great AX Portfolio Founders: Akram Amir from AR Engineering, Manuel Fradinho Oliveira from KIT-AR, and Gareth Conduit from Intellegens - moderated by Veena Rao. 💡 Go Autonomous CEO Bjarke Ruse Sejersen shared great insights on "Transforming Quote and Order Handling in Aviation Operations". 💡 Nick Ikic, Business Developer & Events Coordinator at Flare Bright spoke about the "Future of Autonomous Aviation". 💡 Next we had the Plyable team Martin Oughton and Luke Hunter dive into "Automated Mould Design", showing us the benefits of AI-driven technology. 💡Our DEI panel, moderated by Jacqueline Davidson, featured amazing speakers: Elaine Winchester from Plyable, Harvey Matthewson from Aerobility, Mia Jafari from Fluid Labs, and Kathan Dudhela from London Elstree Aerodrome. 💡Kieran K. from ubloquity led a great session on ¨Digital Assets- A New Era in Global Trade¨. 💡"Reduce Schedule Interruptions and AOG Incidents with AI" was presented by Yann Bignier, VP of Data Science R&D, and Adam Zeldin, Director of AI Solutions, both from Axion Ray. 💡Last but not least we had a great panel organised by the sees.ai team who asked: „Do startups need to think outside the [sand]box to be successful?“ Great insights from John McKenna, Johanna Campion and Anthony Ventez (Across Safety Development Ltd ). The penultimate day at Farnborough International airshow 2024. This has been the most amazing experience. A huge thank you to Nichola Bates and the entire team at Aerospace Xelerated and Metta for the opportunity to showcase ubloquity and spend time with the most energetic and inspirational group. From Monday our feet has not touched the ground. Visits from UK PM, Keir Starmer and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly BL MLA from Northern Ireland kickstarted what has been a whirl wind event. A huge thank you to the team from the Department for Business and Trade for their continued support. Providing ubloquity with an essential voice on the global stage. As an upstart from Northern Ireland we are delighted to be part of such a passionate and innovative group of companies, showcasing our platform. Day 3 complete at Farnborough International airshow with the team from Aerospace Xelerated. We got to share and engage with some amazing teams and people. The airshow is a wash with innovation and energy and the UK and Northern Ireland has so much to offer as we move through a new digital age. Making innovation fun has been a key focus of the ubloquity team and when supportd by strong female thought leaders like Nichola Bates Fiona Simpson Johanna Campion and teams like Metta and Aerospace Xelerated, up starts like ubloquity get to support some of the most dynamic projects around the world. One that has blown me away is AR Engineering A huge thanks to the one and only Jonathan Evans for spending the day with us. If days 1 through 3 are anything to go by, days 4 and 5 will be awesome. Day II of the Farnborough International airshow complete. The evening was rounded off with an amazing event at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in london. Thanks to the team Department for Business and Trade Thanks to Tiffany Burrows Glen McMahon. Joined by the one and only Nichola Bates from Aerospace Xelerated and her colleagues from Boeing. Prime Minister Keir Starmer commits to supporting and investing in the continuous development and innovation across the UK's Aerospace and Defence sector. Its clear Northern Ireland is punching above its weight. Emma Little-Pengelly BL MLA spoke with passion and clarity on the benefits of working with such a passionate and innovative culture. We had a great first day at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow! 🛩 This week we have the honour of partnering with #FIA2024 to host the very first Startup Zone in the airshow´s history: The AX Innovation Zone. 🚀 In the zone you can meet with 16 AX portfolio companies and participate in specially curated discussion panels, presentations, workshops and demos with industry experts. Our Managing Partner Nichola Bates kicked off the AX Innovation Zone stage with her opening remarks, giving a sneak peek of what´s on the agenda this week.
