About us

We are UK Coaching. Through our commitment to people, passion and progress, we’re taking the lead in coaching excellence. Our mission is to put coaching at the heart of physical activity and sport. Coaching is in our DNA. For more than 30 years, alongside our partners, we have provided the coaching workforce with the skills and knowledge they need to make a positive difference. We’ve also supported our partners to do the same. We’re now widening our scope to do this on a broader scale. How? By adopting a wider definition of coaching and extending our reach into new markets where great coaching makes a difference every day. We’re here to: * Raise the profile of coaching so that it is recognised for the wider benefits it brings to society and individuals. * Help our partners create coaching systems to deliver a fit for purpose workforce that better reflects society. * Make coaching easier to get into and stay involved in. * Supply the coaching workforce with the information they need to be participant focused. * Be a hub of research excellence for coaching * Help coaches feel better connected, more knowledgeable and confident. * Be central to the sport and physical activity landscape. We’ll run an effective and efficient organisation. * Encourage technology to enable coaches and coaching. In England, we support National Governing Bodies of Sport and County Sports Partnerships as well as many other organisations across the sport and physical activity landscape. In Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, we work with the three Home Country Sports Councils.

It was a royal celebration for an extraordinary group of coaches. 300 coaches attended a very special event at Buckingham Palace, where UK Coaching patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, led the plaudits, celebrating their incredible dedication and hard work in supporting British athletes and their sports. “We believe that the UK benefits from being home to some of the best coaches in the world, and we feel it’s important to champion and celebrate their hard work in supporting British athletes and their sports.” said Dr Kate Baker, Director of Performance and People. She continued; “We have exceptional coaches across the UK, and I am so proud we are able to celebrate and recognise their incredible dedication and commitment to their sport. The event was in partnership with UK Coaching and UK Sport and recognised both summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic coaches for their invaluable contributions to supporting our world class athletes. https://lnkd.in/gNfhZw5G

Big shout out to UK Coaching and UK Sport for celebrating the unsung heros that are the coaches of the UK Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Thoroughly deserved. And a massive thank you to HRH The Princess Royal (Patron of U.K. Coaching) for welcoming us all into Buckingham Palace for such a great event. It was a special afternoon. Edit: I am definitely not a sports coach, but I do some work with UK Coaching which supports the amazing coaches on the ground.
