To mark National Mentoring Day, we have recently established a joint mentoring approach with the Met Office. Joe McNulty, Learning and Development Manager at the UKHO commented: "We created a joint mentoring approach, allowing people from the UKHO and Met Office to use mentors from both sides. This new approach to mentoring will be launched at the end of October to mark National Mentoring Day. We also discussed and started to progress secondments for both organisations, these fit with current talent and development plans and strong links were made between the organisations training teams, to share courses and resources". On #WorldStandardsDay we recognise the importance of standardisation. As we move towards the new S-100 data framework, with multiple parts based on geospatial standards developed by ISO - International Organization for Standardization, this will underpin the next generation of navigation technologies, improving the accessibility, compatibility and usability of hydrographic and marine data. With more data being collected and shared across the maritime industry, a common set of standards is key. International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) #WorldStandardsDay
