We were excited to be involved at The PIE Live Europe 2025 this week! Our Chief Executive Anne-Marie Graham joined an expert panel to discuss the strategic direction for tertiary education and research in Wales in light of the latest Universities Wales report. The panel discussed the roles of funding, advocacy and national identity in this strategy and what opportunities and challenges are facing Wales in internationalisation. Additionally, our new #WeAreInternational Student Ambassadors Arya and Saida joined a lively and dynamic roundtable session where delegates spoke directly to international students studying at a range of institutions across the UK. Their lived experience served as a reminder for all as to why we work in international education and what we may overlook in terms of trying to facilitate a successful experience. 🌟 Exploring the future of international education in Wales at #PIELIVE25 🌟 The Universities Wales panel at #PIELIVE25 offered a thought-provoking exploration into the strategic direction of tertiary education and research in Wales. The session delved into the importance of a global outlook for universities and examined the challenges and opportunities Wales faces in its internationalisation journey. Panel highlights: - Insights on funding, advocacy, and national identity from experts including Anne-Marie Graham (UKCISA) and Dewi Knight (PolicyWISE). - Perspectives on how Wales is positioning itself on the global stage in international education. - A lively discussion on how Wales can enhance its international reach, featuring speakers from UKCISA, British Council, IDP Education Ltd, and more. Key takeaways from the session: - Maddalaine Ansell from The British Council shared: "TNE is risky, but the more Welsh universities can collaborate and do TNE together, the more they spread the risk." - Rachael L., Vice Chancellor at Cardiff Metropolitan University, emphasised the human aspect, saying: "We're not just talking about markets and educational products, we’re talking about people, and people with hopes and dreams." A huge thank you to all our panellists for their invaluable contributions: 💡 Anne-Marie Graham (UKCISA) 💡 Dewi Knight (PolicyWISE) 💡 Maddalaine Ansell (British Council) 💡 Rachel MacSween (IDP Education) 💡 Rachael Langford (Cardiff Metropolitan University) 💡 Nicholas Cuthbert (The PIE) Thanks also to all the attendees for such an enriching discussion, and to Universities Wales for hosting this insightful session. 🌐 #InternationalEducation #HigherEd #GlobalEducation #Wales #UniversityPartnerships #Research #PIELIVE25 #PIELiveEurope25

You can read more about the kinds of fraudulent behaviour and scams students may encounter on our website: https://lnkd.in/eBBd2kC3 If your students believe that they may have been targeted then we urge them to speak to the International Office at your institution, or contact Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime, to report it directly.
