Narrrow bars running across tyres are tread wear indicators. They serve as a visual warning informing you, as the main tread approaches the same level, that the tyre is approaching or at the legal limit and needs replacing. Remember that suspension and tracking problems can lead to uneven wear leaving one part fine and an edge almost bald or worse. Always check the full cross section of the tyre. #TyreSafetyMonth

Bereaved families are understandably calling for a new and more thorough investigation. Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety - along with some 100 organisations - has called for the establishment of a Road Safety Investigation Branch – an independent body modelled after existing transportation safety branches to analyse road incidents and provide actionable insights for preventing future tragedies. This is great news and offers much promise that the momentum is being held. Great to see support from respected companies and individuals for GDL. But I am convinced we need to get behind one approach to have significant traction and influence at some point. Build on the PACTs manifesto or RAC foundation work . #RACFoundation, #DrLizBox #PAcTS. #TheRoadSafetyTrust #NPCC #RoadPeace #Brake #DFt and many more

Fantastic to see the inspirational Sharron Huddleston back on BBC Breakfast this morning, calling for the urgent introduction of a Graduated Driving Licensing system in the UK. Had this law been in place in 2017, it could have saved the life of her beautiful daughter, Caitlin 💔 It’s amazing to have such support for GDL from key organisations like The AA, RoadPeace, Brake, the road safety charity, Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety, National Police Chiefs' Council, RAC Foundation, The Road Safety Trust and so many others, who are all convinced that it would save countless lives on our roads. #GraduatedDrivingLicensing #GDL Lilian Greenwood Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom Dr Ian Greenwood Chris Taylor
