Major events | The University of Nottingham's world class sporting facilities and campus services will play host to the 2025 World Outdoor Tug of War Championships later this year from 4 - 7 September. Recently upgraded to a world event at Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) Congress, event will be the first time the UK has hosted the global edition for over 20 years. Special Olympics Great Britain 🏀 | It was an absolute privilege to work alongside Special Olympics Great Britain to host the DOSportUK CIC x SOGB Basketball Series at the David Ross Sports Village for the first time. A huge thanks to our amazing inclusive sport student volunteers who supported the event, ensuring that teams had a positive and enjoyable experience whilst on campus. #BUCSBigWednesday 🏆 | The pinnacle of university team sports, British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Big Wednesday, is set to take place one week today, and the University of Nottingham is making history once again 😍 The #GreenandGold have so far secured an unprecedented 18 teams in National Championship finals and a record-breaking 31 teams in major finals overall. Empower | We're reflecting on an incredible Empower week at University of Nottingham. Over 450 girls joined us across 18 different sessions, representing a huge 28% increase in reach for the campaign. Designed for women, trans and non-binary identifying students, Empower offers a welcoming community for girls to get active and meet new friends. It’s a key part of our Vision for Sport and ensuring we can reach out to groups of students who may not have tried our sport and fitness offer yet. Highlights of 2025 included over 150 girls attending our launch night at Girls Night In, Disney themed spin, UV Dodgeball and an introduction to Indian Dance. Our 2025 campaign was generously supported by partners Grace & Green, who shared their advice and products on menstruation, Official Kit Suppliers PlayerLayer who showcased their bespoke product ranges for girls as a well as Official Performance Partners Red Bull keeping everyone energised!
