Each year, #EarthDay reminds us of the fragility of our planet and the urgent need to protect and preserve it for current and future generations. From improving recycling efforts to supporting gardening clubs, London Heritage Quarter and its members are contributing to cleaner, greener surroundings in many ways: 🧹 Last year, our dedicated street cleaning team cleaned 1,986km of paving and collected 8,520 bags of rubbish in The Northbank BID area 🧽 Local businesses can join our 60-minute #SmartenAndSparkle street-cleaning sessions this summer at 11am on 18 June for The Northbank BID, or 20 June for Victoria BID. Register your interest by emailing info@thenorthbank.london 🤝 Strand Palace Hotel recently launched a partnership with Bottle Up, an initiative dedicated to reducing single-use plastic waste ♻️ By partnering with retailers to make free refill points available, Landsec’s ‘Refill Me’ scheme promotes the use of reusable cups and water bottles amongst shoppers 🌱 At the Royal Courts of Justice, a green team tends to plants and planters within the Court grounds, and Tate Britain also has a staff gardening club 🌳 The public parks and greenspaces across our footprint are well-worth visiting, like the Green Flag Award winning Victoria Embankment Gardens, managed by Continental Landscapes working with Westminster City Council Find out what else is going on across the London Heritage Quarter and gather inspiration for getting involved this Earth Day by tapping the link below. https://lnkd.in/esWTNjGy #EarthDay2024 #ClimateAction #PlanetvsPlastics

This week's Lunch & Learn, hosted by London Heritage Quarter at The Guards Museum, was truly inspiring. A big thank you to the speakers and attendees who made it so special. It was eye-opening to delve into the pivotal roles women play in the military, gaining a deeper understanding of their achievements and the ongoing commitment to gender equality and inclusion in these vital domains.
A privilege to host our ‘Celebrating Women in Military’ Lunch & Learn at The Guards Museum yesterday, in honour of #InternationalWomensDay. A big thank you to our inspirational speakers, who shared their varied military experiences and the impactful work they’re currently engaged in. ⭐ Colour Sergeant Rachel Smith was appointed principal flute of the Band of the Coldstream Guards, with whom she’s toured worldwide and participated in numerous state occasions including the Coronation of HM The King. In December 2023, she was the first lady to receive the Coldstream tradition of awarding a “Gold Watch” in recognition of 22 years of loyal service to the Coldstream Guards. ⭐ Staff Sergeant Lorraine Vickers-Bennett commenced new role as a 'Unit Welfare Officer’ for London Central Garrison and London District in 2016, following various roles in the military, where she provides in depth assistance to the Guards in need of additional confidential support, and also their families. ⭐ Commandant Lisa Giles has enjoyed a varied career spanning 35 years in the public, telecommunications, defence, training and education sectors. In 2022, she took over as Commanding Officer of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY). It was enlightening to gain a deeper understanding of the pivotal roles women play in the military, fostering a greater awareness of their achievements and the ongoing efforts towards gender equality and inclusion in these domains. #GuardsMuseum #Military #WomenInMilitary #InspireInclusion Victoria, Victoria Westminster and Whitehall Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)
