Airlines and Aviation

We’ve always championed individuality. Here’s to those that were born to fly. Those who see the world differently.

About us

Virgin Atlantic first took to the skies in 1984 to shake things up, bringing a sparkle of red, a touch of wit and a passion for flying to the grey world of airlines. We fell in love with creating the best experience in the skies for our customers, and they fell in love with us right back. Since then we’ve become Britain’s second largest carrier, with non-stop transatlantic routes including New York, Orlando, the Caribbean, Delhi and Johannesburg. And thanks to our hugely successful joint venture with Delta, Air France and KLM, we can seamlessly connect our customers to over 350 cities across North America, Europe and the UK. Today, we want to empower everyone to take on the world. The customers we proudly fly and our people who go the extra mile. As we embark on a brand spanking new era of travel, it gives us more opportunities to do things differently and lead the way with fresh ideas. This means becoming more sustainable for our planet and our destinations, and working hard to make travel open to everyone, no matter who you are, who you love or where you go. And of course never, ever, forgetting the small stuff - like the clink of champagne glasses on a special occasion or a cheeky cream tea at 30,000 feet.

Our purpose is to empower everyone to take on the world – and it’s our incredible people who make that mission soar. Ashleigh Berry one of our Flight Service Managers truly ‘leaves a little bit of sparkle with everyone’. Our beautiful airplanes are her stage and her ignition sparks the energy and passion of our cabin crew, so they share the love with our customers. We all really enjoyed Ashleigh on another stage, at our recent Altitude leadership conference, her energy, humour and flair, in perfect sync with Darren Moore: a moment of Virgin Atlantic at its best. You personify the Red Spirit nomination Ashleigh and thanks a million for sharing your passion with the next generation in our Passport to Change school programme too. #RedSpirit.

  • This winter, we’re bringing a touch of Virgin Atlantic Holidays magic to London in partnership with SKATE at Somerset House. Launching from it's iconic courtyard last night, we invited Londoners to glide into the festive season with special touches that bring some of our favourite destinations and holiday escapes to life— including our Holidays inspired tree topped with one of our flying icons, the chance to sample some of our signature onboard treats, and our amazing crew bringing our red thread through a warm welcome off (and on!) the ice.

This is Maryka. She is a concierge attendant at the Virgin Atlantic Airways Clubhouse in #london Heathrow airport. Leaving #london after two weeks on the road. Very early in the morning. Tired. A bit cranky and ready to get home. I arrived early to the airport thinking I could do some work in the lounge. Upon presenting my credentials to Maryka, I was politely told, "𝐼𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑏𝑖𝑡 𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛. 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑎𝑦 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑒𝑒 ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑑𝑒𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒." She went on to explain they do that so that they can ensure everyone has an optimal #experience. Not something I wanted to hear in that moment. As a huffed about it, I said that I would just go somewhere else, and started to walk off. Maryka, looked at me and in the most genuine and sincere way, said, "𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑠𝑜 𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑦 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡, 𝑤𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑏 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑖𝑡 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘." I left and went for ☕ As I sat there I thought, "𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑝𝑖𝑑 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒, 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑚𝑒, 𝑠ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑦?" So, when my 3 hour window opened up, I went back. Humbly this time. When she saw me she smiled, and said, "𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑠𝑜 𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘! 𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑏. 𝐿𝑒𝑡 𝑚𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑!" A personal tour? Maryka showed me around and she wasn't wrong it was a beautiful lounge and all of the attendants were #amazing. She took a difficult situation (knucklehead...like me) and created a completely different #experience out of it. That #moment lead to this #memory. Always remember #employees are the #face of your #brand. #experiences shape #moments, #moments become #memories, and #memories define #loyalty. #acloserlook #renegaecx #emotiveloyalty #cxbeyondborders
