About us

Voluntary Support North Surrey is an independent charity improving the lives of local people in Runnymede, Surrey Heath and Spelthorne by supporting local voluntary and community groups in their day to day work. We work with voluntary and community organisations, statutory agencies and the business community to promote voluntary work, support voluntary and community organisations, be a voice for the voluntary sector and identify gaps in provision of services. We offer many free services to local voluntary groups including finding suitable volunteers, funding advice, help with business planning, marketing, access to training and much more. We also manage volunteers to help ease and counter loneliness.

    🆕 Voluntary Support is excited to host a new forum focused on improving the lives of older people (55+) in our community on Tuesday 24 September. This online event will highlight services available, discuss funding and development opportunities and address challenges faced by this age group. It's a valuable way for people to connect and share practice and information. The first Runnymede forum will also provide the chance to hear the findings from the current activity survey being run by Runnymede Borough Council. Anyone who works for an organisation with a connection to older people (there's no defined age, but approximately 55+) is welcome, whether their focus is tackling isolation, age-related physical or mental health or another service.   • 📷 A great photo from James, one of our Time to Talk Befriending - North Surrey Befrienders, taking his befriendee, Ben out for the day! #FeelGoodFriday James used his volunteering time through his company to take Ben down to the Sussex coast where they enjoyed a beautiful day in each other's company at the beach with a stop at Goodwood Racing Track on the way home 🏖️ 💬 James said: "It was a great day which Ben told me he had been looking forward to for weeks. "Ben enjoyed the drive and the scenery so much we discussed the possibility of me taking him our for some local drives during our weekend meet-ups!" Becoming a Volunteer Befriender can make all the difference to someone's life, giving them something to look forward to and enjoy.     Royal Holloway Volunteering's biennial Community Partners' Conference is BACK on 12th September 2024 at our Royal Holloway, University of London Egham campus! This year’s conference theme, "Future Forward: Volunteering, Charities, and the University of Social Purpose," will explore the evolving landscape of volunteering and the role of the university in driving social change. Highlights of the day include:  * Keynote Speech offering valuable insights into the future of volunteering.  * A special presentation by our Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Julie Sanders, on Royal Holloway's 2030s Strategy and our journey toward becoming a University of Social Purpose.  * Expert Panel Discussions exploring how Royal Holloway plans to enhance community engagement and contribute to our goal of becoming a University of Sanctuary.  * Interactive Workshops on cutting-edge topics, including how AI can empower small charities, what skills Royal Holloway students are looking to develop and the future of the Royal Holloway Students' Union.    This conference is FREE for all charitable organisations and includes lunch and refreshments.
