  • 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝟮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘆. Check out this update from urbanest UK! From pre-planning onwards, we've delivered innovative structural design and sustainable engineering for this landmark Passivhaus development. This is a great example of our 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵, integrating 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 to tackle complex challenges. From intricate transfer structures and deep foundations to ground movement analysis, basement construction, major sewer diversions, and SUDS, we ensured a coordinated, efficient design. 👉 Read more about this project: https://lnkd.in/eahFHW6a 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗕𝗦𝗔 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀? We are just weeks away from topping out at our incredible urbanest Canary Wharf development! Work continues to progress at 2 Trafalgar Way on our largest scheme to date, a 1,672-bed project targeting Passivhaus certification, which, once achieved, will make it the largest Passivhaus development in Europe. Thank you to everyone involved in the project to date, we look forward to celebrating the achievement that is topping out and seeing the continued progression on site. #BetterBecause #Achievement #Passivhaus #PBSA #StudentAccommodation

  • 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀: Cecil Avenue has been 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 for the 𝗨𝗞 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 £𝟱𝟬𝟬𝗞 𝗮𝗻𝗱 £𝟭𝗠 at the Ground Engineering Magazine Awards 2025!🌟 We were engaged by Wates Residential on this challenging project, which involved designing a 7.5m-deep basement near the historic Wembley Hill Railway Cutting. This meant tackling serious stability risks. Rather than relying on temporary works, we took an 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵, using permanent piles for lateral support. The result? A safer, more efficient excavation that 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 while keeping sustainability and cost on track.🍃 Huge credit to the teams involved, including GCL (Ground Construction Limited), for making it happen - and congratulations to all the other shortlisted projects. We're looking forward to the awards!👏 You can find all the details about the shortlisted project here: https://lnkd.in/eCa9uGg6 #GEAwards #GroundEngineering #Innovation #Collaboration #SustainableDesign

The board displays the message: "Equal rights for others doesn’t mean fewer rights for you – it’s not pie." Beside it, there is a partially eaten pie with colorful sprinkles on top, a slice of which is placed on a marble-patterned plate. A cup of coffee sits nearby. The composition reinforces the message of equality in a lighthearted and visually engaging way.
  • 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸: As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers, Alexander Mead, Jason Chua, and Helen Sutton recently visited the University of Nottingham to speak with third-year civil engineering students.🏗 The day served as a briefing for the upcoming Constructionarium Ltd, a hands-on learning experience where participants will put their knowledge into practice, tackling real-world engineering challenges. Working alongside Sir Robert McAlpine, we spend the full week on-site, offering guidance, mentoring, and practical insights throughout the process. The team also explored the design process behind construction drawings, highlighting the steps that take a project from concept to reality. Attendees took part in a hands-on design challenge, getting creative with scheme designs and structural problem-solving. Hosting one-on-one conversations, provided an opportunity to answer questions about Walsh, placements, and careers in the construction industry. Encouraging fresh talent into the industry is vital, and National Careers Week is the perfect time to highlight the opportunities available to future engineers. 🧠Curious to learn more? Both cores have reached their full heights - 𝟰𝟲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟯𝟲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘆𝘀 - with the final slabs to be constructed in the coming weeks.   ✨ A milestone was the successful erection of the 𝘀𝗸𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 and the first conjoining slab at Level 10. This joint-free structural connection plays a crucial role in meeting the stringent Passivhaus airtightness requirements.   💡 To achieve this, we developed a 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 to simulate the interaction between the linked structures, avoiding the need for joints in the floor slabs.   A fantastic achievement by all involved in delivering this ambitious, highly sustainable project! urbanest UK Henriksen Studio Apt JRL Group Ltd Midgard Ltd Rider Levett Bucknall RLB FMDC Ltd MTT Limited Gerald Eve WSP Whether you're aiming for ultra-low energy performance or tackling complex design challenges, talk to Charlie O'Reilly about our practical, sustainable solutions that meet your project’s needs.
